Surprise no one mentioned this - quake 4 is $15 @ best buy this week. Not a bad game for $15. Well - not finished yet - just started but so far it is pretty decent for $15. Actually, of the fps (doom. half life, quake, ...) I prefer farcry. The mechanics are decent. I'm not real happy with the doom engine - how you interact with objects - no use button - bleh. half life2 is a bit better but i really like the far cry engine (not so much graphics but rather user interface). Hum. I guess i got off topic. By the way Quake 4 is only $15 @ best buy this week.

From what I've heard, multiplayer seems to have improved a little bit. I bought in on the dell deal for $20 Q4 DVD edition last month so I started playing late july after the patch came out.

It's still a bit too laggy for my taste. I was at the top of the server ladder in instagib for about 10 minutes with 8 others. Once more people started joining, the lag started to get pretty bad. It could be all the gibs bouncing around and slowing my system down Either way, it still has something to do with the game.

trip back to BB . . . 'error reading from disk' got me an exchange . . . flawless install as expected . . . patched to 1.3 . . .

and it is a VERY NICE looking game! . . . runs very well in Hi-Qualty at 11x8 with an x850xt.

it starts with some "team AI" that isn't half-bad and is a 'shoot-anything-Alien-that-moves' kind of game . . . gonna be a nice change from Oblivion . . . too bad i am on dialup . . even the multiplayer looks pretty good.

not sure if i can call it a HOT DEAL. I mean, if its $19.99 regular, you could just use one of those $5.00off coupons that come with BB giftcards and get it for the same price. Its an ok deal for those who don't want to deal with coupons though.

overstock.com had the Special DVD Edition for $14 or $15 + $2 shipping on their website (it sells out within minutes of them listing new stock everytime). I picked up 1 last week and got it within a couple days (USPS). The Quake 4 cd version might have a bad cd3 or cd4 (I bought the cd version last year and got a bad cd, so I had to download the dvd version on a torrent site, and use my cd-key to install/play the game).

quake 4 special edition dvd @ overstock.com for $14.30 + $1.40 shipping (usps media mail, usually 3-5 days) - Link. Should be cheaper than Best Buy (after tax), and it's the more expensive version, not to mention you don't waste gas driving to get it.
