Quake Champions features a roster of unique characters, each with their own distinctive abilities, allowing you to fight the way you want.

Why would they pick distinctive abilities? It's the way overwatch went, so the idea in Quake champions would to be add an extra layer of complexity using team composition etc?

I was a Quake 3 Arena tournament player (and winner) and I guess they try to add complexity in the team element of the game more than the twitch reaction, but unsure how I'll enjoy it.

yeah i missed that part... so much for my hopes for a new quake with old school gameplay (netquake or qw). instead we get quake fortress.

Unfortunately straight arena shooters won't sell, you need to be able to upgrade something and if it's similar to Overwatch, it'll be just cosmetic which is fine with me.

Time marches forward. If you want to play old school quake then you can. There is absolutely no reason to use the exact same gameplay with just modern graphics. Doom showed what those guys can do to keep the feel of the older game but bring the franchise current with all the advancements in gameplay over the last 20 years.

Time marches forward. If you want to play old school quake then you can. There is absolutely no reason to use the exact same gameplay with just modern graphics. Doom showed what those guys can do to keep the feel of the older game but bring the franchise current with all the advancements in gameplay over the last 20 years.

If you want to make a completely different game, don't use an old IP as some sort of sacrificial vessel then. They are dragging Quake through the mud, so I say the more slung back at them, the better.

Being able to reach 120 frames-per-second and more, is why one of the things Willits is keen on making possible. “That’s why it’s a PC game. No excuses. No limitations,” he added.

120 FPS+ doesn't mean that it will be a good game, and that is what counts, not how fast you can display stuff.
