mindless? knowing every inch of the map, where the powerups are, the timings of the powerups, where your enemy will spawn after you kill him, etc etc etc is definitely not mindless.

internet gaming took a huge leap foward with the introduction of quakeworld. Now, people on 28.8 or 33.6k lines could play against the best of them with very little lag or anything
It really revolutionized gaming. Glad I was in college when it came out because it allowed for many late night gaming sessions in the dorm and on the internet, back in 1994-1995ish or so, whenever it came out.
