no, that is close. Arm chip is usually dirt cheap. Meditek sells its lowly mtk 68xx 32bit quadcore SoCs for like 1$ per pop. I am pretty sure even lower dual core sells for just a quater. Apple's A11 bionic costs Apple just $40 to manufacture per chip/per phone.

Compare that to intel i5 Us, selling usually between 200 and 300 USD to the oems

That makes us wonder.... what causes apple to charge $1000 for a bloody phone???
The same reason that makes intel charge 500$ for a CPU that doesn't cost 100$.

i do not see any x86 CPU achieve even close to 30 days connected standby

I don't see a smart phone phone getting 30 days connected standby. you can turn off most stuff, remove most apps, never turn on the display and you won't get close to 30 days standby. It's marketing.

In addition i do not see any x86 CPU achieve even close to 30 days connected standby time or 20 hours video playback time - with other words i do not expect a miracle from Intel or from anyone designing x86 CPUs for that matter.

It doesn't do 20 hours either.

https://www.ultrabookreview.com/19015-asus-novago-impressions/

From my tests, I’m expecting around 12 hours of Youtube, around 15 hours of looping a 1080p mkv file and about 7-8 hours of everyday multitasking from this computer (with the screen at around 120 nits)

That's with a 52WHr battery so, 4.3W Youtube, 3.47W mkv video, 6.5W multitasking.

Comparison with a Pentium N4200 device.
https://www.ultrabookreview.com/18578-acer-spin-1-review/

With a 36WHr battery it says:
4.6W Youtube
3.1W mkv
8.8W multitasking

Kabylake-R doesn't do too bad. https://www.ultrabookreview.com/18921-acer-swift-5-review-2/
5.3W Youtube
3.1W mkv
9W multitasking

That s possible when only the wifi card is supplied and that it use only 70mW total power (with no more than 10-15mW for the transmitter signal..), wich require being stuck to the AP...

On a cell phone network, GSM or 4G, that s simply impossible...

Indeed, 15 hours would be quite a bit less than advertised. Testing environment was the same with the screen at 120 nits. On the other hand the author claimed these numbers to be estimates.
Guess we have to wait and see until we can continue the discussion.

I don't think real numbers will be that far off.

The Intel small-core(meaning Atom-core based ones) tend to end up in low-cost laptops or Tablets with low battery capacity, so their absolute battery life isn't that high. I mean the N4200 Laptop I mentioned only uses a 36WHr battery.

Hmm I found that SD835 is 2.4 GHz and SD845 is 2.8 GHz according to QCM. If so then INT score increased by 14% and FP by 28% at iso frequency. Still good.

As far as I know...
Qualcomm chips
- SD 450 cost only 10 dollars
- SD 625 as far as I know it costed 15 dollars
- SD 650 costed 25 dollars
- SD 820 currently cost 60 - 80 dollars
- SD 835 costs 100 dollars

Mediatek chips
- Helio P23 is being sold at 12 dollars
- Helio X20 costed 40 dollars but now it must be 30 dollars
- Helio X30 was costing 80 dollars, but is being cut to 60 dollars...

Spreadtrum
- No info about it... This is the most secretive of the bunch, but rumors says that the X86 chip costs only 9 dollars thanks to Intel... And the mediocre Mali T820...

The sources? Deleted blogs, forums and this for at least the SD 450....

IIUC SD845 and SD835 have the same max frequency of 2.5 GHz.

If you pick this https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/compare/5548051?baseline=5628738 you'll see that the INT score increases by 33% and the FP score by 50%. That's quite good. Did you expect more?
It uses ARM Cortex A75 that brings an increase of22% in
INT, 33% in FP and per ARM around 34% better performance at iso frequency in Geekbench compared to the Cortex A73 that are inside the SD835. And the frequency is 2'8GHz as you have now seen.

We don't know what the frequency of the chip in that phone really is, we'll have to wait for the official release. I just picked what QCM slides claim.

BTW never trust what marketing says

I had heard Snapdragons go for >75$ a piece, Qualcomm is the intel of the mobile world.
