Yeah, well, that laptop has almost desktop class tdp for CPU.
No?
Zenbook's default profile has a 17W limit. Even its performance profile is limited by 33W. You're getting it mixed up with ProArt PX13 and P16.

edit: default profile apparently has a 28W limit, but it pulls 17W in CB MT score according to computerbase.

I think what Tup meant to say what that the ST power usage of STX is too high for a phone to handle.

Idk, Strix's ST weakness is well known at this point, practically everything including LNL will run circles around it.

edit: it also needs to be mentioned that Windows is the worst enemy of LNL and STX, Huang got 3077 1t score on Linux on the same laptop, that's +8.7% over the result that Ivan posted.

Anything significant we can ready from this?
81 is the ASCII for 'Q'. 8 likely means v8.
The rest is CPU major number + rx py revision, where x and y likely depend on the manufacturer. x usually is a revision that changes some visible feature while p is patching of errata.

2 cores at 4.09 GHz. 6 cores at 2.78 GHz. I wonder if these are final clocks?

The leaks said 2 cores can go up to 4.2 GHz, while the other 6 cab reach 3 GHz.
Maybe they slightly lowered them for better efficiency. In any case, differences are so small that it doesn't really matter at least performance wise. Or who knows. Maybe just pre-release stuff. Pretty accurate leak though.

Android runs on the linux kernel

edit: any *nix based OS will score higher than Windows in Geekbench
That's not the kernel that will change the ST score as long as the scheduler governor is set to performance. External libraries (some of which are used by GB) will also impact performance, both from their implementation point of view and from the ABI + parameter passing convention, but I would expect a moderate impact as GB does not rely a lot on external libs (though it's possible that the libraries it's built with might be compiled differently depending on the OS (*)).

For MT, the OS scheduler rules might change things even more.

(*) I remember looking at Android more than a decade ago. I found that many things were compiled with size optimization rather than speed. I don't know what Android does these days, but this is the kind of things that can alter speed.

Snapdragon 8 gen 4 results:
Beats STX in single threaded perf.

It looks like there was an issue with the HDR subtest. It is substantially lower than the Snapdragon X Elite in that subtest for some reason. Almost all the other subtests are within 10% except for that one. Score should improve a bit if the HDR subtest can be fixed.

That’s a good catch.

I checked a representative score for the S24 Ultra: https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/cpu/7201148
and the single core HDR score is 2271.
What’s even stranger is the multi core HDR score for the S24U is 7173, but this Snapdragon score has 7380.

Leakers still seem confident that we will see 4.37 GHz even after the Geekbench score was leaked. I am curious to see the power consumption. They must have improved it quite a bit compared to the SDXE to hit that frequency in a smartphone. Either with design improvements and/or from N3E.

I still refuse to believe that the S8G4 will score more than 3000 in single core.
That would be out performing their flagship laptop SKUs.
Certainly it won’t reach 3250 (as discussed a couple days ago too).

Just going by the single core score of 2884, apply the frequency adjustment up from 4.09GHz to 4.37GHz, and it’s still 3085.

Assuming a 5% increase in the HDR value (the nT score increase was 2.9%), the score would be 2910. And then the frequency adjustment gets it to 3109.

Based on that score, if it can boost 4.37 then >3000 seems plausible.
But I still think it’s unlikely. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong.
