Some very interesting slides:

7.6W for 45 TOPS Hexagon NPU.

Intetestingly, Hexagon Vector eXtension and Hexagon Matrix eXtension sounds similar to ARM'S Scalable Vector Extension and Scalable Matrix Extension. But the former is for NPUs, and the latter is for CPUs. Do NPUs from other vendors also have such extensions?

Can barely get any information on the laptops, let alone detailed info on the chips. Can't even find any of these supposed "32GB" ram models. Rarer than nipples on an alligator.

I don't know where to add this but I will post it here. TLDR: MS upset OEMs and hardware partners. Maybe charile had some insight into the matter.

It's a massive 2hr podcast. I am not listening to all of that

Did you guys miss a presentation of Snapdragon X will be done at HotChips this summer by @Gerard Williams? Here's the schedule since you obviously missed the previous post about it: https://hotchips.org/advance-program/
That's months after launch. Intel and AMD provide basic uarch detail on launch, whereas Qualcomm have been talking about the chip for months at this point and all we have is some detail on the NPU (stuff that's nowhere near as interesting).

Let's see how much AMD disclose next week about Zen5

Anyway Intel and AMD have been giving less and less details about their uarch for years (thank patent trolls for that). And the details they are giving is targeted to power users (servers, HPC, hyperscalers, etc.), a market Qualcomm doesn't target (yet?); BTW Qualcomm released some infoin 2017 about their then upcoming server chip before launch (see this).

That depends on whether Computex is a launch event or just an announcement.

And whether they talk about anything or not (if they don't -- that's a crappy thing of them to do as well) won't change that Qualcomm flat-out gloss over stuff that will make or break the thing, the CPU core. Hence my annoyance.

So Microsoft made everybody mad.

All the laptop OEMs, Intel, AMD, Nvidia and even Qualcomm.

I have a serious question for Qualcomm.

Will Snapdragon X SoCs come to Chromebooks?

Google just announced that they are putting AI features in their Chromebooks;

It seems Qualcomm really has an opportunity here, and ChromeOS already works very well with ARM.

I don't think Google even knows what they are doing with ChromeOS. They should just make a proper computer OS instead of this garbage that doesn't really know what it's supposed to be. X Elite for ChromeOS would be pearls before swine.

I don't have the exact count, but we already had 2 or 3 launches and there are 2 more Snapdragon launches to come.

Qualcomm is worse with their launches than LOTR Hobbits with their breakfasts...

Which are they?

I count three;
1. Announcement in October 2023
2. Launch at Microsoft Event - May 2024
3. Release on June 18th 2024

Don't forget second breakfast!

That's because they are going to overhype and under deliver, just like always.

No, Chromebooks are budget laptops. The premium ones barely sell. Qualcomm is shooting for the premium market.

Budget is where the volume is.

Qualcomm may not gain much profit from selling in the sub-$1000 budget segment, but they will be able to significantly expand their marketshare and minds hare by doing so- two things they are lacking in the PC space.

I admire your optimism but there's like 100 hours left before the storm.
Mainstream is a tough market where QC needs a killer feature, not a good enough me-too SoC.
i.e. put modems back into the things.

Not just them.
ARM promised largerst perf jump for Cortex-X ever and lmao.
lol.

For Chromebooks, you need to think sub-sub-sub $1000. Like $300.

Chromebooks are synonymous with garbage.
