You just know ASUS gonna stick a 35W chopped green abortion in there to make people suffer just that extra bit. In usable DRAM capacity SKUs at least.
Lmao, yes. And Lenovo has more variety, but they still did this to a perfectly good Slim 7 (for NA) with an AMD chip and naturally everyone hates that, and doesn’t want anything to do a crappy green cars with all the extra idle draw or software shenanigans from it. So stupid.
CES'25 is where they dump the rest of the lineup (your fire ranges and halos and krakens yaddayadda).
I see.

The answer is GLORIOUS CHINA.
Frankly they'd plaster 35w tumors on Hamoa laptops too, if they could.
Alas, no aa64 dGFX drivers for Windows now, so gotta wait till like 2025 or so.

You know what my mom always told me?

Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.
My chickens have already hatched vs Doug. I have receipts on this website on LPDDR, storage and entry level pricing from QC vs Apple (in particular Apple but others too) and that it wouldn’t be a paper launch. In fact I come off looking even better than I anticipated on those metrics, they won the XPS and have managed a Best Buy setup at launch (yes Best Buy sucks but it’s a way to get to the masses) and a laptop with 32GB for $1299, etc.

As for the other parts I didn’t make any ridiculous claim about sales or perf.

Where I really will not make a major claim is on WoA being perfect such that emulation as of June 18th will never be used and there will be no kinks. Progress yes and underestimated yes but gaming is meh and some SW stuff is still coming. This is also why I might still grab Lunar.

God it pains me I know this is true. HP and Dell the only hope.

Oh I know. They’d probably do it even on the Vivobook I posted and Jensen would make a few bucks from something I’d disable immediately.

They make great modems and their phone SOCs are varying degrees of good (sans SD810), but the way they treat PC as a market is deeply unserious.
Well it’s much much more serious now. But yes, everything pre-Hamoa is a total abortion and they deserve the crap they get for it. I would agree it’s still not at the level of dedication AMD and Intel have, partially by design (QC is not going to get into desktop chips or 256-bit bus stuff) and yeah they can’t be out shaking everyone down and not every PC needs a modem, which they backed down on lol

And yea their mobile SoCs have been still great besides the 888/8G1 Samsung fab cancer and those 810 days. Hopefully Oryon in 8G4 looks good but we’ll see lol

Here’s the kicker, that Dell Tandem OLED is limited is 400 nits in SDR. It’s no where as close as Apple’s custom Tandem OLED.
Apple’s custom tandem is much more expensive and in iPads that ship with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD with an 11 inch display for $999. I sure hope it’s better.

And it doesn’t really matter, even with tandem 400 nits in OLED is actually great.

nah, tandem oled is really efficient. The reason its used in first place is efficiency and high brightness levels.
I think 400 nits + more battery at $1499 is vastly better than $1699 for another 600 nits. Apple has more volume too.

If they did what you wanted here and it were $1700-1800 or whatever people would be howling to the moon laughing. They hit a nice feature/efficiency sweet spot with an X Elite in the XPS.

You really really really don't want to blast more than 300 with a high APL on any OLED.
Unless you hate battery life.

Some people make it seem like they live life of adventure, like safaris, climbing Kilimanjaro.

While in reality, they spend 99% of their life withing the reach of power outlet.

Last time they tried to enter the PC market, their name alone wasn't worth much.

Their entry into the PC market last time was a pretty well kept secret outside of forums like this one. This time they have OEMs that are selling their stuff, Microsoft is (at least for now) not treating WoA like a red headed stepchild, and the AI hype will make buyers looking to buy due to that hype do a little more comparison shopping than they would have a year or two ago.

Are additional devices gonna be announced "regularly"/soon or has everyone blown their load already?

I see no 2 in 1s? Actual Yoga, Yoga 7 14 (at least that is what it's called in EU, Lenovo has moronic naming strategy)?

Also when is Purwa due? I want a
16+512+120Hz 2.8K OLED+8640HS.
Missed the 1st sale at 850€.
Can QC even match that at all with any SOC?
