Best Buy just had their Sony 12x 50 packs for $19.99 last week. I wonder if they'll do that again

I'm not trying to dump on this deal, because this is a good deal, but Floydian posted a similar deal for Kodak Gold CDr's for just about the same price each (just over 50 cents each) and the deal is still available. In my opinion these Gold's are the best.

These are 12X by the way. I have a pack. As far as these vs. the golds, Kodak themselves may have the answer. I believe they are discontinuing the pure golds in favor of the Silver+Gold because they're just as reliable and even more compatible. I'm not saying this is a fact, it's just something I've heard.

didn't want to start a thread, but if anybody works for a fortune 500 company, maybe compusa will take off 11%(that's tax in memphis) for them. it works for us here. found out today--actually i think i forgot.
btw, you have to check out at customer service--a drawback to be sure

Can anybody who's bought these CDR's before tell me if they're branded or unbranded?
Thanks

what do you mean branded or unbranded? you mean kodak branded? I believe they are silver+gold...which is top of the line because it holds the data longer than almost any other brands which tends to corrupt over the years. or do you mean the top? the top is all silver...no writings on it.

to be honest, I doubt many would need a cd-r that can hold data for years. if you're like that, you should go with the much cheaper options like the kingston brands at outpost.com - 50@$15. but if you're obsessed about data archiving, this is a pretty good deal since kodak is probably the best cd-r maker.

<< KODAK DOESN'T MIX GOLD AND SILVER, AND SPREADING STUPID LIES LIKE THAT IS SICKENING.
>>

seattle, that's what I heard...and it even says "silver+gold" on the spindle package. since you obviously know what you're talking about, why don't you stop being a little fvcking bastard and spread your profound knowledge? and turn off the caps you annoying asswipe.

Seattle ... check the Kodak website. Stop being a jerk and educate yourself before spouting off either in reply or in the first place.

Additionally, Kodak has increased production of the Ultima Silver and Gold cdrs not as a replacement of their Ultima Golds but hoping as a more viable option for the consumer as their profit margin is higher with the introduction of the Silver and Golds in the last 6 months. Per cdr it costs Kodak substantially more producing the Golds thus the new cdr intro.

I have 30+ pieces left of almost all of the Kodak cdr line. The Ultima Gold, Ultima Silver, newer Ultima Silver/Gold and most of the Digital Science lineup from my Hospital connections. I truly can say that they are top notch media on par with my other cdrs, Mitsui and Taiyo Yuden variable branded.

I should also say that I have not noticed any performance differences with any of the Kodak lineup cdrs. I have not done any exhaustive studies on subjective performance nor will I endeavor to do so in the future. All I can say that is that they've never failed me in any way, shape or form.

Then there are Ritek, CMC Magnetics and Gigastorage crap which I will not touch with a ten foot pole even though they burn fine and can be read with any of my readers/equipment. However, i've had many experiences with these products not being able to hold critical data, unreadability on selected readers (which is unacceptable) and a poor cost effectiveness. You can get decent cdrs on sale that almost rival the cheap varieties so why bother with crap?

And how much exactly did Kodak pay you?
I mean saying that Kodak film is the most qualitative, and that Fuji is flimsy tissue... Give me a break. Some photographer, indeed!

what a sad, sad little dude...getting all worked up over a cd-r issue...and to top it off, the illiterate asshole couldn't even correctly read and comprehend what I said:

<< THE CDR'S THAT THE IDIOT IS DISCUSSING ARE THE ULTIMA, WHICH IS SILVER WITH A LITTLE GOLD TO MAKE THEM THE BEST OF THE SILVER TYPE. >>

that's what I said you MORON! I have the very same package...it says "kodak cd-r ULTIMA: gold+silver" and you try to correct me by saying the very same exact thing.

for god's sake you overreacting fool, try to comprehend what I said and stop your pitiful rambling. you typed a whole long list of reply bragging about your supposedly good "education." 30years of education huh? doesn't show it...AT ALL. in fact, all you did to "prove" me wrong was by getting facts off of kodak's website...nothing that shows you have 30years of rochester institute of technology education under your belt...and if you do, who cares? I could have gotten the same info off of kodak's website...or in this case, their cd-r spindle package which I did: "ultima: gold+silver."

and to address the puerile crack to my name, I chose the name because I was interested in the story emperor nero. and by making that infinitely rediculous "character assessment," I have obviously offended you that badly by saying [correctly] the kodak cd-r ultima are silver+gold. go see a psychiatrist you problem riddened asshole until you can contribute something to this board/forum.

thinking about it, from the way you overreacted from my post about gold+silver, and from your rambling about how smart you are (which you have shown to be contrary) because you attended a technology school for 30years, I'm sure I'm not the only one who can see past your obvious attempts to piss people and to LOOK STUPID for a half-assed attempt to be funny.

Got my CompUSA Kodak CDR $19.99 rebate back in November from the September promotion. They originally sent me an email saying that my purchase date was invalid. Had to call them at 888-408-4692. They requested that I send them a copy of everything so that they could correct it. You can check this rebate online at: Link
Not sure if it will still be listed since it is several months old. If not, call their 888 number.

My wife & I both bought a spindle and sent in for the rebates on 9/26. My wife received some email saying that the date or something was wrong. I called and complained to no avail. So I went to the local Copmussr and demanded that the GM make good. He refused (I don't blame him since I forgot to bring any supporting paperwork) but I got rather nasty and eventually he tossed $20 at me to make me go away.

I eventually received my rebate on 12/4. And then out of nowhere my wife receives her's on 1/3.

Maybe someday I'll go give the guy the extra $20 back. And then again maybe not.

BTW: These are the best looking CDRs I have.
