Dell outlet has 54 Refurbished UltraSharp 2209WA for 179.99 currently. To my knowledge these are e-IPS panels only. If you don't mind refurbished, might be a quasi-hot deal. I ordered one.

Um, what? I remember deals floating around at the end of March where you could get one for just over $200. Those are gone and now it's $250+, but $180 for this monitor (even if it's a refurb) is a great deal.

I just picked up a Studio 17 (1735) for $373 AC but before tax this morning in the outlet.

Only concern would be that a lot of these could be returns due to the various backlight issues, etc., that some people had. Is this a legit concern, or would Dell 'repair' those that are returned for these reasons?

I think that is legit. I think this is a crap shoot. I mean, I think people who return LCDs who knows could be dead pixels or backlight or just messed up the order. I posted a note on notebook review asking if people had ordered outlet items and if they generally had worse yield. If there is something actually defective I'm sure Dell will fix it, if it is just a 'quality' issue I'm betting not (you'd have to pay restock) but given that is true of TN panels on say newegg at similar cost I did this.

That maybe so. But those some people on the chat deals thread I read got a 2209W which is TN because the rep confused them. I'd say 15% off isn't bad regardless...

My has already shipped. I think I could have gotten free next day shipping, but in case it was in error I just choose 2 day so if they tired to bill me it would be less. I shall get it Tuesday.

Good catch the 3 years is worth something. Too late for me though, most things die in 90 days if they die (but perhaps the backlight)...

If you go over to the Dell Outlet's facebook page and check the discussion section, there is a thread for coupons. The 10% off refurb LCD coupon can be found there. It expires 4/22.

I paid $223.06 shipped for a brand new 2209WA last month.

Great monitor, I'd probably pay the extra few bucks to not get a refurb.

They are all e-IPS monitors. Mine is fantastic, it puts my old tn panel to shame.

Anybody gotten one of these (refurbed) in yet? I ordered yesterday and it'll be here tomorrow; curious as to whether these are 'unfixed' units that were sent back by videophiles (dead pixels, backlight bleed, color shifting, etc.).

I just got mine today. I don't see anything wrong with it I had a 2007WFP (I think that was the model) anyway it was 20" same resolution IPS dell. Turning down the brightness (which is way too bright) and the contrast to a reasonable level, it seems almost the same color wise. With CheckeMON, I can't find any stuck pixels, the backlight might have a small edge effect at the bottom. But only really noticeable at all on monochromatic stuff full screen. Uniformity def acceptable to me. My 20" not is for my laptop while at work...

The is the fallacy of a 'few bucks'. The savings is over 20% IE 1/5 of another monitor. A little here a little there it adds up. 7/11 20 Oz soda costs 5 cents an Oz; supermarket 1.3 cents. Not a big deal? That is over 300%! Only percentages are fair. Over a year if you drink 1 soda a day, you'd save 270 dollars, or more than enough to buy a monitor just from the "not that much difference" kind of savings...

From all the LCDs I've had and used (old laptops, desktop LCDs, etc) the only ones with bad backlights have been some really old stuff (like 7+ years generally). I have a 15" viewsonic LCD here from 1999 that just last year finally had one of its backlight bulbs die. Made it 9 years.

Usually if something goes bad it is the signal driver board or the inverter or something like that.

Got mine in yesterday, has 15-20 stuck pixels concentrated around a few areas (only visible on black screen, and even then just barely). A shame, as it's a brilliant display otherwise. Going to send it back and hope for better, but YMMV (although I suppose we all knew that already ).

Just got mine. Ordered yesterday morning, arrived in just over 24hrs with free 1 day shipping!
Checked with checkeMON, no stuck or dead pixels. No backlight bleeding apparent. This thing is superbright, had to lower the brightness to ~35/100
total was $210 after taxes and fees to California.
