Black Friday, Que! DVD-R/DVD-RAM drive $350 AR ($50 instant, $50 MIR) at CompUSA B&M.

This was mentioned in another thread, but it sounds like a good deal on a DVD-R drive. DVD-R blanks are as cheap as $2.50 each. And Que! has a pretty good reputation. Any opinions on this drive?

A similar (although Panasonic) drive is sold on TigerDirect for $600, so this is a great deal! My dad (a movie collector) has been contemplating buying it, but this is much better!

Ahh, reminds me of the good ol' days when I paid $400 for an HP 4x2x24 HP CDR . I'm going to hang onto my wallet for a DVD burner for at least another year and sees what happens with the 3 standards of rewritable media. Good deal if your looking for one though, much better than $600

This is nice deal... if you need a DVD burner. This is the lowest price I have ever seen on one.... Pioneer makes a the A-03 and it seems to be around $425-500

w9design: so this is the dvd-r/dvd-ram drive only (no cd-r or cd-rw)? The compusa page linked above has no idea what it's selling. it says ide dvd-r/dvd-ram in the title, but the specs say:

I think this is a great deal if it's the dvd-r/ram/cdr/cdrw drive, otherwise just so-so.

i got in on the amazing 70 dollar out the door deal for 24x Que QPS burner from CompuSA 1.5 months ago. i was skeptical cuz i had never heard of que, but i can vouch, at least for the burner, it ROCKS!

i haven't made any coasters yet, even while i do multitasking while burning. i know this is the dvd-r but thought you guys might be skeptical of the brand too so it needed some support. by the way, it burns as fast as the Lite on 24X.

It is supposedly made by Sanyo actually (like TDK velocd), so, maybe the DVD R you are looking into is NOT made by Que anyways. in fact, i think they are a small company so it probably is rebadged from some major manafacturer. excellent deal i think.

I was reading a roundup of dvd burners in macworld mag, and they said all of these drives that are out right now are exactly the same inside, and the que is the best deal because of the software included or something. But it seems that they are all the pioneer superdrive that is in the imacs.

The Pioneer Superdrive is the same as the AO3.It is NOT the same as the DVD-RAM drive! Que sells both varities,this is the Panasonic Ram drive!
DVD-RAM can not be played back on 99% of the DVD players!The DVD-R format can,but is a write once format! The Pioneer AO3 is DVD-RW.It is a
rewritable format,that most of the new players can handle! DVD-RAM is,in my opinion,a dead format!

I went to compusa today to check out the Que drive - wow it looked a beaut, but the sales person didnt know anything about a price of $349.99 on it, she said it was over $500 and she couldnt go to the web. She said she will keep it for me for 48 hrs and if I can bring a flyer in with details of the offer, she'd do it. Im gonna use that 48 hrs to decide which DVD RAM or DVD RW (hey I dont know) is best, ie Que or Panasonic A03, and buy one depending on what it can do and the price.
