okay, my roommate is looking for a really cheap puter and he only has $400 to spend, but his old one is about to explode (almost literally . so we were looking around for him on the net, thinking that we might be able to get him like a celeron 300 or something like that. but we found some place that sells this:
Athlon 750
generic (maybe integrated??) graphics card
integrated modem, network card, sound
128MB sdram
20gig ata100
floppy
and 52x cd-rom
and also speakers, mouse and all that. (no monitor, duh)
but its only $298
so...... what i am wondering is.......
the company is called Connect Computers and their website is computerbuys2000
has anyone ever heard of this company, or delt with them? or are we going to get the shaft?
i would assume the system board to be integrated out the wazoo , and that everything else will be super-extra generic. (they give no listing of who made what or anyting like that) but all he (my roommate) does is word process and play civII, so it seems like this would be a good deal for him. the only thing i would want to know is if anyone knows if this is a "too good to be true" or not.
if you reply to this, please also send a copy of what you wrote via email, cause our conection here at school is butt-slow, and it is taking two or three mins to load each page. i would appreciate that.
thanks for any input.
