Question about A64 NewCastle C0 and CG steppings..

Not sure if this is the right place for this.. but..

Newegg has 2 different Athlon 64 3000+ chips, one is model# ADA3000AXBOX and one is model# ADA3000BOX. I'm kinda confused, they both cost the same. I'm guessing the one with AX has the CG stepping? I noticed the A64 3200+ and 3400+ also have AX in their model names. I was just wondering if anyone else knew anything more about this.

AX is SUPPOSED to mean CH stepping, but you never know. So get the AX version if ovreclocking, or the cheapest one if not.

you mean CG right? cuz i've never heard of CH

I had the AX one (ADA3000AXBOX) and it is CG stepping (ADA3000AEP4AX) for sure.

AX means its a newcastle core and is CG stepping

Aha, thanks everyone. I think I'll order the one with CG stepping, just incase I ever decide to OC in the future.

hey we have almost the same setup. When you go into the bios what speed is your system reporting? at every boot up mine is reporting a clock speed of 2200, and no changes were made
