Question about accessing a school network

I am a student teacher at a local school and i want to use the internet off there T line..at least i think its a T line. Well they said its going to take them a long time to configure my laptop so im outta luck for a while. They said they have to install novell and filters so it recognizes the server. IS there an easy way to get around this?. I just want to be able to use the internet. thanks

you have to find out if your server assigns ip addresses to clients or if you have to define an ip. If it assigns ip, then all you have to do is connect your laptop to an ethernet port and set your gateway to the server ip.

If you need an ip, then try setting your laptop ip to an ip of a computer that's already there and replace that computer with your laptop. Then you should be able to get online.

If your school requires you to log in before you can access the internet, then your out of luck and will have to wait for the administrator to set up an account for you

thats right i remmeber a screen coming on where you have to choose student or guest or teacher so i guess im screwed..theres an old power mac in the room that barely works
