I looked in FAQ and couldn't find this, so I figured I'd just ask. I'm sorry if this is a question that has been asked a thousand times, but I figured doing a search on "Athlon speed" wouldn't get me anywhere without reading through a zillion posts...
If I do not plan on overclocking, and I get an Athlon XP 2000 processor, will it actually run at 2Ghz? I looked on newegg.com and they have a lower number next to each processor.
Here's an example:
"AMD Athlon XP 2000+/266 FSB Processor CPU - 2000+/ 1.67GHz -Retail Box"
Does that mean it will run at 1.67 Ghz?
I need to know b/c my motherboard is supposedly stable to just over 2 Ghz and I'd like to get a chip that actually runs that fast.
edit: I am not going to overclock
