Question about browsers with one process per tab

I've wondered this ever since Google started pimping it's separate process per tab feature. If I can open Internet Explorer then open Chrome, log into two separate gmail accounts and have them both work on the same computer, why can't I just open two tabs in Chrome and do the same thing since they're separate processes?

I'm pretty sure a browser's tabs all use the same sessions (and other stuff, like cookies).

I s'pose someone could probably write an add-on/extension to allow for multiple simultaneous sessions in one browser instance.

That would be kinda nice to open multiple email accounts in the same window. Sure I could link accounts... but... I have separate accounts for a reason.

Sweet, I didn't realize that's what that did.

*EDIT* Nevermind... doesn't let you open a new session in another tab in the current window.

That does not work at all. When open in one mail account, pressing ALT does absolutely nothing. It needs to be ALT-something. But???

You can turn on private browsing on one tab and then have your other tab have your other email.

Uhh... well in IE 8, pressing alt bring sup the traditional File, Edit, View menu bar just like it says in the link (assuming you have it hidden). From the File menu you select New Session... again, just like it says in the link.

I don't understand where the confusion is coming from...

Private browsing requires a new window, not just a new tab. Same with incognito in Chrome.
