Any oldies out there? I have an old 1.8 Applebred lying around that I feel like messing with.
Firstly, since it's a Tbred core, it should go from 133x13.5 now to 166x13.5 (2.24ghz) no problem, right? I'll have a VF7000Cul HSF on it so heat shouldn't matter.
The real question is the L2 cache. I tried to unlock the cache on this chip before, but there are no good guides on the net. Between what I found on some blogs and a german guide out there, I managed to figure out that I need to scrape off the packaging over the last L2 bridge and connect it.
Once I scraped off the packaging it got really confusing. Nothing underneat sticks out at me as a "L2 Connector" thing. I can't even find the laser-cut hole anymore. It all looks coppery.
Maybe I should have just scraped off over the connecters and left the packaging in between them intact? In my attempts to unlock this thing a year ago I decided it was too dangerous to connect the bridge by going over all that copper between the two ends, so I wound up going off to the side and around the middle part, over what I THOUGHT might be the connecters.
My problem is that the Windshield repair kit I got had a lot of different goops and none of them seemed to dry, so I had no idea which was conductive.
I heard that if the multiplier is locked then the L2 cache is unmoddable. Is that true?
Also, is it ok if I just fill in the entire bridge-area with coductive paint? As long as it doesn't touch any other bridges?
Thanks
