Question about eVGA 8800GTS

In this review, go to the very bottom pic and you see a metal plate on the back of the eVGA 8800GTS. This plate is not present on mine. Does this provide any added benefits and anybody have any idea why this wasn't on my card?

A little extra cooling it sounds like but not a big whoop IMHO.

So have you had a chance to game with this card yet? Feedback? This is probably the model I would get so I could step up on the refresh if one comes.(In time).

How are the temps on the card at those clocks? (idle/load)

Just looked on Newegg and their stock doesn't show one either so......And the prices are actually starting to drop($10) on a lot of the models!

I'm trying to get the control panel IQ settings to stick in-game. Right now the settings don't stick. And I'm trying Splinter Cell Double Agent but the game keeps crashing on me. It worked the first time but the textures were all screwed up...and now it crashes as soon as I start the game...reading on the Ubisoft forums...there are LOTS of bugs in this game.

WIth my Antec P180 case closed and the fan at about it idles at about 62-65C and loads at about 80C.

With the case open it gets to low 70s at load.

yes it does cool the card a bit more, im guessing about 2-3c. I saw results of the 8800gtx evga cooler, also with that back plate, but they also have an aluminum cover...which is linked to the main heatsink by a thermal pad (same as the back plate) this gave a max of 6c extra cooling power. I dont know where the review is...
