Question about G.Skill memory

purchased G. Skill F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL

and while reading the customer comments I noticed someone complaining about the voltage on the ram being incorrect. This was the response posted by G.Skill.

"We are sorry to hear you are having issues with this memory. The memory specification is above the standard, so manual settings are required. Please insure that memory frequency, timings, and voltage are configured in BIOS. If not, the system may not operate smoothly. Also, not all CPUs are fully capable of DDR3-1600, so further tweaks may be needed. If you need such assistance, please contact our technical support department directly and they will be more than glad to get your system operating smoothly."

I have never manually had to adjust Ram settings in the BIOS. So my question is when I receive this item and install it in my SandyBridge build (in a couple weeks), will I have to manually tweak the BIOS settings for the ram?

Sure everybody rips on G.Skill, but in this business brand only matters with support. It's all the same PCB and chips in general. So basically follow the advice of the support e-mail and adjust your voltage in the BIOS. It's not a big deal. I generally adjust them anyway with sticks from every manufacturer.

So yes, buy from the QVL if the task of adjusting voltage seems daunting (if you are on AT it shouldn't be), but really if you can build a system, you can adjust RAM voltage in the BIOS.

Not a big deal at all, but just wondered whether or not I had to as I have never had the issue before. Then again I usually bought the motherboard and then bought the ram after so I used the QVL. But since the Sandy Bridge MB's are not out yet I purchased the ram first. Either I have no problem manually adjusting the voltage, etc... as long as the ram works as it should.
