I might be laid off in a month or two (company lost like $100 million last year worldwide ) and kinda worried that I wont be able to find a job in the IT industry. I'm 3 credits away from a Bachelor's in Telecomm (pretty worthless now it seems like ) and looking into government jobs.

Whats this whole pay grade thing they have, GS-10, etc? Whats the best place to look for government jobs?

Federal or State ? Federal usually pay decent, while State is pretty much in the bottom.

Yeah, get a government job, that way you have job security and you never have to actually produce anything.

Local department of labor, county website, state website, city website, etc.

Just don't expect good pay and it also can be a dead-end job if you pick the wrong one. I've heard stories about people who were in gov't jobs unable to get jobs in the private sector because of their gov't job history.

Kinda like a little ungratefull brat who's father buys him a car then he gets all whiney and pissy when the parent then decides to drive the car 50 miles.

Pot meet kettle.

Id prefer federal and as far as pay goes, it really isnt a huge factor. I just need some experience under my belt. Like someone on this board (I think) said "Employers want a 20 year old with 30 years of experience"

Not really. I have a job where I actually provide a service to people. The GDP would actually go down if I stopped working. Not so for government jobs, nothing has to be produced and no results have to be shown.

Hey brat, when was the last time you worked for the government? The GDP would go down eh? Don't kid yourself. You are a pimple faced teenager making $9 an hour, you aren't important to anyone but yourself.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I worked for the Federal Government for two summers, in two very different parts of administration. You would be surprised how much work I did those summers. People at Federal Governments do plenty of work, it is uninformed people like you that don't know anything.

LoL, guess you don't know what the GDP is. I provide a service to hundreds of people everyday, and most appreciate what I do. I spend the money I earn and grease the wheels of the economy, when I spend my money I'm providing for the families who own and operate the businesses where I spend my money. Thus, I am a productive member of society. Not so for someone who is government job bound where they are actually taking money OUT of the economy instead of putting it in.

LOL at your idea of government jobs taking money out of economy. What, do you think people who work for the government don't buy any goods or services?

People who have government jobs don't spend money??
Who would you call if your house was on fire?
What about the money you spend? How is that printed?
What about your bank? What if your bank files chapter 11? Oh wait, the Government has your money insured.

They spend money that SOMEONE ELSE produced. You are delusional if you think that the government is actually productive. They pull money out of the economy, I put money into it. Big difference.

So, according to you, they are not earning their money because they work for the government.... and the money they spend doesn't count as going back into the economy, eh? If you hate the US government so much, why don't you go move to Iraq.

Yeah, they spend tax dollars which comes out of the pockets of productive people.

If my house was on fire I would let it burn to the ground and collect from the insurance company.

I actually hate U.S. dollars. Did you know the federal reserve causes inflation every year and has since the 1930s? The dollar loses value every year because the federal reserve actually creates money that doesn't have goods or services behind it and spends it!

LoL, bank failures are very rare and trust me I wouldn't lose much if it did fail.

This service you sell... do you accept clients that work for the government? You would be taking money out of the economy and condoning it if you did.
