hi reader,
I have an epox mobo 8kta+ or something like that (about a year old now) with a 700 mhz duron.
the hdd is quantum 30gb 7200 rpm/100ata. I am running W2K on this with 196M ram.
here is the question:
i have tried reinstalling the drivers from the VIA website several times. each time, after i reboot, the hdd shows up as UDMA mode. But, after the comp has gone into sleep mode once and is 'woken up' again, the hdd shows as PIO mode. Even if I simply go to Control Panel and say 'Update driver' and reboot (keep the same driver only go thru the motions of clicking the Next button), it comes back to UDMA. (and returns to PIO after sleep/wake cyvle).
Could the disk be faulty? or do i need to change something else to correct this.
i would appreciate any help on this problem.
thank you
pk
