question about heatsink/processor

hi guys
silly question here. i called zzf and left a message so waiting on a call back. how can i find out if my processor has the thermal grease on it? i dont mind ordering some but if it is on there already why get it? it looks slimy on the processor where the heatsink would connect...just not sure

i did not choose the option to have it on there but i know they usually ship them with it on there...

Most heatsinks sold today come with a small packet of thermal grease that you can apply to the bottom of the heatsink, where it makes contact with the processor. If you're not overclocking, this thermal paste will usually do the trick for you. However, a lot of folks swear by aftermarket thermal paste like Arctic Silver. I am one of those people. If you have the extra few bucks, I would recommend getting some AS 5. Your CPU will thank you.

Also, if you already have some sort of gunk on your processor, you will need to clean it off before applying the new heatsink and new thermal paste. There are lots of threads and articles online on how to clean that stuff off of your CPU. Good luck.

AS Ceramique is some very good stuff too. I just ordered 15 tubes of the stuff.
