I just got an updated email saying my HIS card has been fulfilled and the order should be shipped out on the 7th.

To the doubters early in this thread, Amazon stayed true to their word. The Sapphire 6970 they agreed to switch the HIS with for me came in yesterday. I built a new 2500K rig with it and it is running great so far.

I'm a very satisfied customer to get a great card for an ultra low price. I figure I can sell it in a year for at least the $193 price I bought if I want to upgrade to the 7970 or 6xx series.

amazing job on that deal dude! I should of thought PMing before, is it still possible to try? Also you mentioned about a rebate for the sapphire for 30$ but i did not see it on amazon? I'm wondering if you can still PM.

just chatted with amazon and phoned them and both gave me the same story that they will not swap for a similar item under the price of the order and can only make a new order with the actual prices of those alternative items. The best they did was offer 2 day shipping on the HIS order, over the phone as well they told me the XFX 6970 model would actually be shipped in January next year! according to this "reps system" while their site shows it is meant to be delivererd this Monday. Makes me wonder just how long this HIS order will take.

That's what a rep told me a first and I asked to speak to the manager to see if he would agree to a trade since the HIS card has been out of stock for weeks. The rep hung up on me instead of transferring me.

I called right back and talked to a new rep and she gave me the Sapphire 6970 I asked for and honored the original low price ($203 after rebate). It is probably random if you get results. There is no pattern to it.

Yes!!!! Success!!! I just got off the phone and was given 2 X Visiontek as a substitute for my 2 orders. 1 Day shipping and they took off the $20 rebate from the HIS deal on each one. $203 each with free 1 day shipping! 4 chats, 4 emails, and 3 phone calls later.

The crazy part is I didn't even ask for the substitution. She asked me if I saw anything similar in their stock that she could offer me. I checked their stock and the only card they had left was the Visiontek. At first she sighed and said, "wow that video card is $120 more." I was just silent at that point while crossing my fingers. All of a sudden she said the magic words, "I can offer you that one as a substitution for the same price." I quickly said, "that sounds great, thank you." I then told her the rebate had expired from the HIS deal. She agreed to give me a $20 credit on each card. She also maintained the 1-day shipping I had received as a courtesy from another CSR.

I am kinda digging the reference design. The Visiontek goes for $367 on Newegg! I can't wait to crossfire these things. It will be a monster setup. One reviewer online had this card oc'd to 1000 MHz! I will post pics when the cards arrive. I am so excited right now. The CSR was American. I am glad I didn't give up. I gave it the final effort last nigh after reading on another forum that Amazon is starting to cancel some of the original HIS orders due to "price mistake".

Just tried again no luck if they cancel my order after letting other people switch it is time for me to not use Amazon for awhile.

I also just tried to phone in and the representative gave me the same story, they keep saying special order no swapping allowed blah blah major price difference. Yet other customers falling through the cracks and getting recourse. I had one with an accent on the line and was very adament about NO. Second time got an american sounding person and actually agreed to swap the items but not with atleast 100% PM (im thinking halfway there). Had to hang up as i was told they will call me back soon to reconsider and swap. Im just perpelexed on how different a response you can get for what should be the same staff...

DAMN they called back and rep said she was overstepping her duty by offering any kind of recourse, but still offered 50% PM of the difference i declined.

Congrats Serradifalco!!! That's going to be an incredible rig.

It's sad to hear that not everyone who ordered the HIS 6970 card are getting the option to switch like us. For the record. The nice lady who agreed to let me switch to the Sapphire 6970 with the discount was from India, so I don't think point of origin has anything to do with it. Success is completely random (plus I was very, very polite the entire call).

waited a bit and retried and always the same story that they cant price adjust I must be doing something wrong it is like my 6th try in all and 3rd today lol.

I called them enough that when i check the status of my order it doesn't even show up! They ended up cancelling due to a lousy excuse of a pricing error! I will never shop Amazon again unless it's to take advantage of them. They are really disorganized and their staff have no coordination whatsoever.

I can confirm that Amazon is cancelling their orders. I ordered two of the cards, on two sepearate orders (one for me, one for somebody else). Both the orders were cancelled today.

Really disappointed that they decided to cancel the order instead of honoring the price or replacing it with another card from another manufacturer, like Sapphire.

You are not going to believe this. I had just finished opening the UPS box with my 2 Visiontek substitute cards and went to check my email. There was a cancellation email for my original 2 orders with a $10 credit for each. I got the deal and another $20! I love this Country!

Mine was canceled also so I called talked to a girl named Rebecca she made it right. She promptly got me a Sapphire for the $203 with 1 day shipping. I had 2 on order but 1 is better then none and got the $10 cancellation credit still and setup my $30 rebate from sapphire so I can't complain. I would call at least and try if you got canceled. I told her lots of other people had switches and if they honored those with other manufactured cards we all should have the chance. This was the first time I called also. I haven't called yet because I was actually hoping it would be closer to Dec for the order as i am sort of strapped for cash at the moment. But I still got 1 so it will be here friday.
