after you graduate, you'd still have to go to officer training school in order to become an officer.. it's a few month training course, but after that, you become an officer.. i don't know much, because i'm basically in the same situation as you.. i graduate in spring 2004, so i've got a year on you.. i believe i still have the option to do rotc.. does anyone know?? anwyay.. that's all i know

Well, at my school you can do Army ROTC if you have 4 semesters left. I'm thinking about joining the AF after I graduate depending on which grad schools I get accepted at.

To find previous topics on the air force, do a search for "air force". I believe your questions will be answered and then some.

the Air force is the easiest of the military branches.

Very easy life compared to the other branches

what's even easier is the national guard wait..national guard gets called to build a sandbad walls in hurricane winds. so join the national guard in a state that doesnt have that many emergencies (floods, fire, hurricane, earthquate). Try Hawaii

Of the five armed forced of the United States, you might want to look at the Coast Guard. Oh, and OCS is one way to go. Another way is Direct Commissioning. If they need the degree you have, you could be an O-2 in the military a few months after being accepted.

Geezus! There are more "barracks lawyers" in these threads spewing "I think", "I heard", "my buddy" than there is truth.

Go down and see a recruiter. Get the information and then ask for people that are in the military to confirm the validity of the information a recruiter provided for you. Half these people probably haven't served one day in the military!!!

First, as Aceman says, you should take the time to get the straight information from the Air Force recruiter, or I assume they have a decent website...

But second, I'd caution you against joining the military just because you can't find a job after graduation. If you're unfamiliar with the military way of life (as you seem to be), you should carefully consider whether or not you will thrive in it. This is will be a multi-year commitment that you can not back out of. Military experience can be a good thing for some people, but it's not for everyone. And there's a real threat of war out there....

Good luck!

Oh, and you want to know why the AF is the easiest? Because when the Air Force builds something, say a base, they build barracks, mess halls, and personnel buildings first. Then, when they're halfway through the hanger and the runway, they run out of money. Of course they'll get additional funding for the vital parts, whereas everyone else does it the other way around. Or so I've heard.

Why is it that all you young bloods think that the AF is a safe place to be? Yes, it is true that AF personnel are less likely to be slogging through the boonies than an Army or Marine grunt. But what makes you think that you are going to join the AF and sit all safe and comfy behind a desk somewhere?

Another question, why is it that you think that you deserve all the benefits of a veteran when you have spent a few years in an environmentally controlled bunker when the Army and Marine grunts are "out there" protecting your worthless asses?

You make me want to puke.

If you want to serve your country then join any branch of the military you want to. Do not think that you are at any time absolved from the duty to actually put your life on the line.

When I was in VN there were plenty of brave AF personnell in hazardous duty positions. They did their jobs, and some of them died.

get a job as a DoD civilian like in acquisitions or something (like me), you can leave when ever you want and if there is a draft you most likely won't have to go to boot camp. they're looking for people because they expect 1/2 of the work force to retire over the next 10 years.

whatever branch you join, make sure you get a Top Secet clearance w/Polygraph lie detector test.

After your 1st tour (~3years). you will make 6 figures working a as contractor for the govt. the civilian job will train you. all they want is a body in a slot. and these 6 figure slots require TS w/Poly

XFILE,
Do you even have ANY military experience, besides what you believe you have in your little fantasy world?

A) You just don't go in and say, "I want a TS clearance"
B) There is no Polygraph lie detector test for a TS clearance.

Stop spewing complete BS, PLEASE!
