Question about l4d/l4d2

Hey all,

I'm trying to use my headset at night so the wife can't hear gunshots and gibs splattering.

However, I tend to speak really loud... er, yell at my teammates. This is because I cannot hear myself when I speak into the headset's mic... ie, there is no Mic feedback with my headphones.

Also, I'm an opera singer, and tire my gd voice out when I play.

Is there any way to fix this? A setting in Windows 7, perhaps?

I'm using Plantronics GameCom 777 USB.

Any ideas?

I actually don't know how you can hear what you're saying when you use the mic...

Yep enable in Start/Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound

Click on Recording tab at top then double click on microphone. Then go to the Listen tab. Check off the Listen to this device box. Now you will be able to hear how loud you talk while gaming. You may only hear yourself out of one side of your headphones but don't worry people can hear you ok and no only in mono. Not sure why it does that.

1) Stop yelling.

2) There's a microphone test setup in the L4D options. It's in L4D2 as well, but currently broken in that game. It pretty much tells you how you sound to others, assuming no connection problems.

"Voice_loopback 1" in colsole will playback what you sound like to other players. Listen to how you sound, and gauge your volume based on that.

Awww, Miklebud beat me too it.

Yeah, just input "voice_loopback 1" into the console (or your autoexec.cfg in the cfg folder), and it will give you voice feedback.

It annoys me, as it just sounds like it's echoing, but good luck.
