Question about Linkedin

Just out of curiosity - I was looking at some Linkedin invitations I sent out that were ignored. I'm baffled because some of them are in the same organized club (even though I only talked to them once or less), while the rest are people I spoke on the phone with. I saw that they added random people who they never met, but ignored mine. What would cause you to ignore Linkedin requests? I'd understand if it were FB, but this is Linkedin where just about everyone accepts most connection requests right?

I have a pretty minimal Linkedin with a photo so easy to recognize.

A lot of companies post jobs on LinkedIn now. Plus it's useful for finding out who to address cover letters to.

If you're a higher-up, you get pinged relentlessly from industry (i.e. job seekers, head-hunters with empty promises).

You have to be selective who you admit (i.e. colleagues, VIPs).

Uh, the first thing any recruiter on linked in does is ask for your resume if you're interested. The hiring process doesn't change, just the manner in which these companies are finding people.

Instead of only talking to people that come to them, they're able to go after people that already has the background they're after, and try to get them recruited. It's pretty targeted and works well if the company knows what they're after.

Anybody who doesn't think Linked In is being used as a modern day head hunting tool is out of the loop. But that's fine... more for me

I get multiple contacts per week from recruiters who visit my LinkedIn page. Seems like a good way to keep in contact with candidates to me.

Got my last 2 jobs via Linkedin. Both jobs were well over $100k/year.

I got recruited for a job off LinkedIn. Paid $15k more than what I was currently getting.

I've been hit up multiple times on LI for jobs and I know our corporate recruiter uses LI to find candidates.
