I went to the apple store today to scope out an iPod Video. I'm thinking of getting one soon, but as i was watching the video (Lost), i could not see anything in the dark scenes. I wanted to modify the contrast/brightness. However, i couldn't find any controls. I've looked in the manual online, now i'm starting to think that Apple didn't provide controls for this, is this true? if not how would i be able to adjust picture settings?

ive got an ipod 60 gig photo. by what ive heard, ot much has changed functionality-wise, and its just the fact that it will play video. thats it. oh and... it will only play 2 hours of video and then the battery is dead. Ill stick with my photo. prices have come down on them.

really? 2 hours? that is really sad. I thought since it could play music for far more hours than 2, it could at least handle a full airplane ride. whoa, i really have to rethink this now.

I don't think it has brightness/contrast controls. The 60GB model plays video for 3 hours if that makes any difference to you.

The Cowon iAudio X5L is just like an iPod Video (except for a smaller screen) (and the nice spinny wheel thing) but it costs a bit less and can play video for, oh, 10 hours or so. Probably longer, I haven't checked, but I've watched the entire Season 3 of Scrubs on it without having to charge the battery.

Granted it's not an ID3 (Artist, Album, Genre) kind of organization (it's a File system type), but just a shoutout for a (I think) superior MP3 (or OGG, or FLAC, or WAV....etc.)/Video player.

Oh, also, you don't need software like iTunes to put music on it/sync it up...it's just simple drag and drop, the way it should be

do you guys think that apple couldn't figure out how to change contrast/brightness successfully before the release date, so they just decided to leave it out. I mean, even players that don't do video have brightness/contrast...

yes. best mp3 player i have ever owned. Never takes a dump on me like my old archos POS did. Plus.. i like itunes. only thing is everything has to be in mp3/m4a format, but itunes will pretty much auto-convert anything you have EXCEPT protected wma, but nothing can convert that.... So, i highly recommend that you get one. There is an advantage to getting the video ipod. 5 extra hours of music playback. its thinner, but i think its wider, which i dont like. But i think you can get really good deals on the photo 60 gig ipods now. My girlfriend's brother told me someone was having a sale on them for like 249 or something. not sure, but i know you can get them for 300 easily. Hope this was helpful.

one thing though.. they scuff easily. I would recommend that when you get an ipod (if you get and ipod) get some sort of protective case if you want to keep it looking new. Mine is all scratched up, but i personally dont care, because i listen to it, i dont stare at it. Its usually sitting in my pocket
