Just got a C2D E6600, It's water cooled. Idle is at 20'c and load is at 26'c
I got Corsair Xm2 PC6400 and Asus P5WDH Deluxe mobo

My processor is from the G batch..

What speed you guys think I can hit?? I am thinking of changing my FSB to 333mhz * 9
what speed should I put my ram under? any other settings you think I should change in the mobo?

My last overclock was on an opteron 165 running at 2.8ghz. That was a year ago and I didnt keep up with the OC stuff.

Anyway thanks for the help. If anyone can help me personally, I will give you a copy of Norton 360..

I've got a very similar setup (but with Zalman 9700 'stead of water), e6600/P5B-Deluxe. I have mine set at 333x9 (3.0ghz), and thats pretty much where it maxes out. I also have a "G" batch.

Temps aren't really a problem, I have tried pushing more voltage, the CPU just won't go any higher. Better luck with yours m8!

Figure out what your CPU can handle first (aka. run RAM at SPD settings), and then start tweaking your RAM.

My E6600 will run 1500FSB (375*9 @ 3.375GHz) without any tweaks - just FSB change. I haven't tried changing the voltage as it's not been necessary.

I have DDR2 1000 RAM which I run @ 1000FSB 5-5-5-15 2T. Every time I switch to 1T it hangs during POST. I haven't spent much (really any) energy in determining the max I can get from my CPU or RAM (RAM is Ballistix - 2 @ 1GB). My cooler is the Tuniq 120 and board is P5N32-E SLI (680i chipset).

Whether it's the board, CPU, or luck I don't know - but I can overclock the crap out of this setup with minimal tweaks. I bet I could get to 3.8 ish with some voltage tweaks.

Is that a.....scoreboard?

What are your real goals?

where do you live for an idle temp of 20C..what is your ambient temps...

I live in Tampa..my ambients is 24C right now..I idle at 40C and load in 56-58C range using Prime 95 blend for 25 hrs

your load is only 26c???

can you provide more info on your specs?

9x 333 should be very easy

I would set your vcore at 1.45v fort esting only...and run Prime95
cpu 9 x 333 1.45v
ram(what are the rated timings?) ..you can run 1:1 or 4:5 divider on 266 strap most likely at fsb of 333

First thing I do is make your desired cpu/memory/fsb changes..then run memtest86 1.70+ ..test 5..to make sure ram is ok. I run 50 passes

if ok..go into windows and run Prime95 or real quick test of my cpu was 3Mark05..the cpu tests 1 & 2(takes 3 min)..if vcore was too low, my system would reboot

I live in the suburbs of philly. I am trying to push my CPU to the max limit.. In the night time, my room gets cooler and my idle is at 20'c and during the day it goes to 23'c.. Yes my load is only at 26'c havnt checked the load during the day time. I am going to test it again

I have a really nice custom designed water cooling set.. My radiator has 3x fans, Swiftec Apogee, dual bay 3.5' water bay reservoir, swiftech water pump.. I just overclocked my PC to 333mhz FSB and I am on windows now.. Going to run prime95 dual core test. I havnt pushed my vcore yet. My vcore is at 1.35. I thought first my program was messed up, then I checked it using Asus Ai boost, Asus PC probe II, everest home edition. so I believe the temps are fine.

I have an Asus P5W DH deluxe mobo, Corsair XMS PC 6400, ATI X1950Pro. My room is pretty cool, its around 45'c. I have my side of the case open too.

Ran 3dmark06, The Max CPU temp overclocked @ 3.00ghz and 1.35 vcore was at 27-28'c

3D Mark05 is much more cpu stressful using those 2 cpu test 1 & 2...3Dmark06 will run fine but 3Dmark05 will crash when my vcore is too low

I understand good watercooling...but jeez your room is at 45F??? huh...that would be damn cold..are your fingers still there or are you wearing gloves

45 celsius would be frigging annoyingly lots of sweat kinda hot I'm confused too lol. With some luck you should be able to push that e6600 past 3.5, you can alwayz get lucky/unlucky with any batch though.

You should be trying for 3.2 right away and then up to 3.4 and 3.6.

My G batch (week 46 of 2006) will do 3.4 with 1.5V vcore in BIOS on P5B Deluxe (1.475 actual) but then the Orthos load temp after 12 hours gets above 65c which is too hot for me. Since I don't want to increase the fan speed as I like my quiet setup I run it at 3.2GHz with 1.37V actual vcore. It's been cold the last few days here (6-10c outside) and my idle was 27c. With my room at 21c the idle is now 34c, gaming load 44-50c, Orthos load 58c.

Your memory WILL limit your max FSB. You bought corsair which means you probably got elpida or promos ICs and those do not overclock well past 1000Mhz (500Mhz FSB). If you have a divider option in your BIOS (I do not know about that mobo) then you can essentially keep your memory down under it's top end limits.

uhh... now you do realize thats beyond cool. Its more like hella cold.

And if thats the case...

your ambients lie around 7.22C - 10C

Your idle at stock voltage is 20C

Somethings off on your waterloop. Or you have a crapy water kit.

Because a Tuniq should give you around 8-12C idle, at stock settings with ambients of those.

So either your really off about your temps. OR your trying to shoot wild turkey. So please give us more accurate information. It only hurts you when something is off.

Wouldn't his CPU be at 9 x 500MHz = 4.5GHz if he sets his FSB to 500MHz?
Are you saying you expect his CPU to reach that limit (4.5GHz), or am I missing something?
His memory is PC6400 or DDR800. Even at that rate, his CPU will hit 9 x 400MHz = 3.6GHz, which would be a respectable overclock for his CPU with no memory overclock.
