Hello everyone,

I just came up with this really crazy idea of shrinking my home pc into the size of a laptop. the motherboard i use (pc chips m810LMR) has everything already on it which is already saving alot of space, i could simply rearange the cd rom drive, hard drive and floppy drive into a narrow square piece that would fit a custom designed frame. The main thing i need to shrink would be the power supply. I was thinking on completely eliminating the power supply and having the motherboard run off some type of long lasting battery. Would this be as easy as just buying a more powerful CMOS battery, or would i have to buy some type of adapter to fit that huge plastic cluster the motherboard is currently powered through?

any suggestions are greatly appreciated. i would love to hear about people that might have actually tried such a crazy idea, or possible a website??

hehe it is a crazy idea at least ...

dont think battery will do much good if you plunge it on the cmos ... the cmos battery has nutting to do with the rest of the sys, it only provides power to the cmos ...

so if you want to power the sys you need to put it in that plastick cluster thingie like you say ...

i dont think you'll succeede tho .. the procs and stuff are not made te be run of a battery nor to be put in a cramped case or so ... and a battery wont do mucht good .. you might want to try and connect multiple different batteries per volt branche ...

not trying to be offensive but if you dont know that the cmos battery does not power the system, is this mod not a little over your head ... even I with my mediocre knowledge of technology I would never try this with my comp ... just because I know that I do not have enough knowledge to do this or fix things when it turns out to be wrong ...
