Alright, this is the situation: I have a socket 939 processor with a pair of broken pins, each side by side. Now, I was thinking about trying to fix them or whatever at one point, but have said nevermind to that. I want to know, at this point, a few things:
1. Is there any risk whatsoever in trying to use this processor? I.E. could it harm my harddrive in any way, or damage any other part because of the missing pins, or would it simply not post because of specific missing pins?
2. I remember hearing about certain pins only being used as extra voltage things, and not being truly necessary. Is there a website that would be able to show me what pins do what, so I can tell whether or not the pins that are missing are truly necessary?
Thanks.
