Question About Reformatting with Windows XP

I have Windows XP installed on my computer and want to reformat the hard drive. When I reformat with the XP cd do I delete the partion and then install XP to get a clean erase of my hard drive?

when you boot with the cd running... tell it you wanna use the ntfs partition but a clean install. do not upgrade which you could do while xp is running..

When you say do a clean install, do you mean the option that says set up Windows XP?

Or should I first delete that NTFS partition and then set up XP?

Yep, you'll have to delete the NTFS partition. Everything will be erased on that partition so back up what you need.

You don't have to delete the partiton (though it will only save you a few seconds). Like Tbirdkid says, if you tell Setup to install to the existing NTFS partition, it will ask you whether or not you want to format it.
