We are planning on buying a LCD TV for our 14 yr. old son for Christmas. It will go in his bedroom, and primarily be used for Xbox 360 gaming and TV. We do not want to spend a ton of money as we have other children to buy for. He originally wanted specs of MLGPro.com tv, Viewsonic DiamaniDuo NX2232w. These are 22", 1000:1 contrast, 300 cmd/m2 brightness & 5ms response. He doesn't mind a slightly bigger TV, but wants same specs. We have a $250 gift card to Best Buy, so we were considering getting him the Dynex DX-LCD32-09. It is 32", 1200:1 constrast, 400cd/m2 brightness & 6.5ms response. The main reasons we were looking at this TV is it is reasonably priced, decent specs and has a video out connections (which is very important.) Seems to be hard to find a cheaper & smaller LCD TV that has video out connections. Also, with 104 reviews there, it is rated 4.3 out of 5 stars. With our gift card, we basically buy it for $200 plus tax.
The question I have is, should 6.5ms response time be more than enough for Xbox 360 gaming? For what I have read, most manufacturers do not provide accurate results on their advertised specs. I only have two friends who own Dynex tv's and only one has used it connected to a Playstation 2. He said he had no issues, but he isn't a big gamer to say. I just want to make sure the TV isn't holding him back in gameplay. I've used LCD monitors on PC's with slower response times in the past, and never had any issues. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
