question about routers and VPN

i've seen guides on making my WRT54G into a VPN server. my question is lets say i have 10 people connected via VPN remotely, and one of them starts sending another a file through the network...

question is does this data go through ME? like through MY router, and effect my bandwidth? or is this a direct connection between them, and all i'm doing as the VPN server is giving them some 'common ground'?

I don't have much VPN experience, but I'm pretty sure it should go through you. The machines would see your VPN device as the gateway for any IP traffic on their subnet.

Yes, you are the HUB for all connected people. Everyone who remotely connects will have an IP given out by your DHCP Server (your router/VPN server). If they use the internet while connected, it will actually be forwarded to your router and back out again, so they esentially are using your external IP as an endpoint for internet traffic. This can really be bad on a Cable connection with 500kB Download and 44kB upload.
