Question About UPS Tracking

UPS gave me my tracking info today for an amp I ordered, and their tracking states a delivery for Monday the 16th, which would mean my package would sit at the UPS facility in my hometown for Friday, Saturday and Sunday and then they would deliver Monday.

My question is this: Since my package would actually be available for delivery Friday, would they deliver Friday or on Monday which the tracking states. I think the tracking date was only generated for Monday because it assumes the package wasn't sent before the billing information was received, which is kind of odd, but it is what it is. Am I correct in my assumption, or are they actually going to hold my package over the weekend. BTW, this is UPS ground, and normally my packages arrive three days from the order date from indiana. That is also according to their maps.

My package was shipped Tuesday, and it definitely should be available for delivery Friday. What do you guys think?

It's possible you might get it on Friday. It's happened before. The tracking information is usually right though. It will probably get to the facility on Friday, but not on an actual truck for delivery until Monday. You might be able to arrange for pickup though at the UPS distribution center if you really want to get the package on Friday. I've picked up packages from UPS and FedEx before like that when I didn't want to wait.

I think UPS tracking is totally FUBAR right now. One minute when I track a package is says the billing information was received. Two seconds later it's out for delivery. Two seconds later the billing information was received... again, apparently. This is happening on 3 separate packages of mine that were shipped on the 9th, are in transit, and scheduled for delivery today.

Well, I called ups and the lady I talked to said I would get the package on Friday, and that the reason tracking says it won't be delivered until Monday is because the billing information wasn't received until the day after the package shipped, and the delivery date is generated using the date of the billing information. In short, if your billing info gets to ups after your package actually ships, she said you go by the ship date, using their ground maps to determine date of delivery. Hopefully she is right and I will get it Friday, because right now I am driving around with my sub disconnected.

Just figured I would update, in case this situation ever happens to any of you. Go by the date it shipped out. My package is now "Out For Delivery", and should be here any time now.

I guess UPS tracking isn't useful for a specific date unless you know for sure your package shipped the same day as UPS recieved it's billing info. Kind of a pleasant surprise really, as I expected it to be delivered Monday because the place I bought the amp from was dragging their feet, and had no phone number, so I had to email them, wait two days for them to get back to me, etc. It took over a week just to get them to give me an RMA number, so I couldn't even ship until I got that. That is a whole other story, and one which I won't bore you with any more info about.
