what's the point of nominating a candidate in a party you don't belong to?

Um...because democrats don't want republicans choosing their presidential candidate, and vice versa.
But yea if your totally set on Ron Paul, register republican and vote for him in the primaries. I like the guy, but i don't think he stands a good chance of getting the Republican nomination.

I think Ron Paul is getting more coverage than he deserves with his poll standings... really, no major media outlet is covering any of the non-top 3 candidates in each party. which is not to say that's a good thing (or that it even matters in the long run... who knows how this is coming up in the local coverage in iowa/nh), but it's hardly limited to Ron Paul.

There are Texas politicans that are good and bad. Would you have a problem with LBJ.
After all he dragged this country into Vietnam.
Yet it was a California Republican that extracted us from it.
It is not the state nor the party that makes a difference; jsut the person itself.
People can love their country no matter what their party is. To accuse someone of not loving their country because of political ideals is just you not looking in the mirror.
