Question about wedding DJs

I'm having my wedding this Sept and I started looking for a DJ. My friend recommended one and its 3 guys for 5 hours for around $620. Question...do you usually offer meals to the DJ? We are paying around $100 per guest so no way I'm spending $300 bucks on them, but people tell me that meals are usually offered....

What other tips can you guys offer about centerpieces and flowers?

yes, you usually do... although you can see if you can bring in a smaller meal than the one your guests are eating... like a nice set up from a local deli type place with a good sandwich, chips, salad, etc.
That, or take out from another restaurant in your area.
It is the nice thing to do... although not many people do offer that based on what i have seen and heard.

One more thing...how many DJs are usually at weddings? Is it really necessary to have 3?? I would think 2 would be enough.

In the contract for our DJ it was specifically stated that we needed to provide a meal for him. The guy was great so I had no problem with it (after the fact). It does sting a little bit before hand but you'll quickly forget.

We just had one DJ and I see no reason to have any more.

Often you have a DJ and an MC...the 3rd guy might just be the lackey carrying stuff/setting up/etc. I would at least inquire as to what each persons role is.

I'll cut off the rest of that line and answer a more important question. 3 DJs, $100/person meal, etc. is just overboard. It is just a measly few hours of your entire life. Spend the $50,000* on a house or new cars for both of you. Then get your family and friends together for a wonderful time on the best day of your life. Who cares if they eat a $5 meal? What matters is that you are getting married and that you are sharing that with your family and friends.

I agree. My gf called the guy first and he said he would bring 3 guys with him. I find that unnecessary.

At the place I had my wedding at, meals for service people (DJs, photographers, etc) were cheaper than for guests. We paid $95 per guest and $25 apiece for the others.

3 DJs? Holy cow. Most places have 1 and you get a bonus if you have 2. And it's customary to let them eat too. But what the heck are you paying $100 per person for? That's nuts.

I've heard of three emcees and one DJ!

But 3 DJs seems pretty overkill, unless one has to hand crank the turntables or something...

3 DJ's is about right, 1 to actually work, 1 to hit on the maid of honor and 1 to eat enough for 5 people.
