OP, I am going to let you in on the secret 4-part process. Ordinarily I would charge up to hundreds of dollars for this information, but for you it is free.

1. Find something that interests you. A technology, a sport, pornography, whatever. You will find that this advice can work for almost anything, with a little adaptation and effort.

2. Do it. Learn about it. Be good at it. Get a degree in it. You get the idea.

3. Find other people that are also interested in it.

4. If possible, find a way to make money from it, or something related to it.

Most engineers I know, including me, followed something like this process. If you can make it to step 2, the rest is easier than you would think.

You have nothing to lose but your emo-ness.

You have much to learn, young one.

I bet/hope that in 10 years, you'll look back on yourself now and think thoughts similar to the sentiments posted here by others.
Yeah, you seem to feel 100% like you've got it figured out with the whole nihilist/non-motivated thing.

Purpose comes from within you, and from those around you with whom you associate. If that purpose is to pursue hedonistic interests, so be it. Pursuing a belief in nihilism could itself be seen as a purpose.

18 ah. Well, when you get a job that sucks for a long time you'll understand lol. You don't want to be in a job 10 years down the road when you think you could be doing something more challenging or feel like you should be in a higher place or need in society.

Trust me, I spent many nights in school learning skills which I regretted not learning at a younger age.

I remember when I first got hired at this large international corporation and got invited on the softball team. When it came time to introduce ourselves it pretty much went down like this:

"I'm a lawyer; I work for patent prosecution; global trade coordinator; information services security advisor; supply chain manager; northeast marketing of *insert brand name here*.... " Then there was me, "Hi, I deliver mail". Once you personally feel that humiliation you'll will understand and grow hungry.

Well I am an atheist and a nihilist, so it is a bit rougher...

I strongly doubt you're truly a nihilist. You're just a kid looking for a philosophical outlook at appeals to you. Do you truly believe that life has no value?

Yes, I truly believe it.
You're full of shit! Just recently you have posted about how much fun you're having dancing and playing frisbee, then you claim life has no value? You're either a troll or a little emo bitch.

Yeah, I can have fun and still believe that. You can believe life has no purpose or value, but you can still release some chemicals and have a blast... I am going dancing tonight to help forget about how pointless life is.

Maybe you should familiarize yourself with nihilism. Just because you believe life has no value or purpose doesn't mean you can't still have fun...

Having fun and enjoying life is value! What more do you want? I strongly believe that you're just an attention whore who is whining for the sake of whining. And don't tell me to familiarise myself with a philosophical outlook that you have completely misinterpreted. It sounds to me like you're a whiny, emo version of a humanist. I consider myself a humanist. We are people that find value and meaning without superstition. We believe that life has purpose derived from truth and morality, informed by science and reason, inspired by art and human fulfillment.

You're a confused humanist who is too blind and/or stupid to find real meaning without superstition. You have convinced yourself that being an atheist or rationalist means you must abandon hope of finding happiness because you can't believe in a higher power. I'm convinced that a higher power is unnecessary to fulfill myself, that I can be happy spending my life in search of knowledge and wisdom, and in helping others find peace without resorting to false beliefs.

Are you college? If so, enjoy your time there. Take a variety of courses, join some clubs. Don't worry about figuring out your entire life.

I hate college. I don't know what I want to do as a job. (Fixing computers is about closest related hobby I have that could be a job) We don't have as many courses or clubs as other schools. This is a CC, it's not a university.

You just need to start making moves TridenTBoy. Join the Army, Peace Corps, just get out there and do SOMETHING, ANYTHING, it doesn't really matter. You need to broaden your horizons.

Of course I don't know why I bother telling you this, because I know you won't take any advice in this thread to heart.

You do understand that eventually your parents are going to get sick of your attitude and kick you out. What are you going to do then?

I didn't ask what your major was. What are you studying?

I have English 102, Health 100, and PE 135. I hate that english class... It's extremely stupid.

That's probably what, 9 credits? That's not even full time. What the fuck do you do with your time? And of course you hate college, you're taking bullshit classes. Take a full load of broad unrelated classes, and you'll eventually drift towards an area that you like.

Join the military. At least that way you'll earn your keep and grow out of your emo-ness.

I get pissed enough looking at how much is taken out in taxes on my (single, male) paycheck. Then seeing people like you pisses me off even more.

If you're broke, why the hell are you taking PE and Health? They won't count for jack shit unless you want to be a PE coach. And I don't think that would work well for you, the kids would probably kick your ass and stuff you in lockers.

Get a god damn job and take real classes.

Are you sure you haven't confused junior high with college?

In that case, I'm sure you're not required to take them now and they're not a prerequisite for anything. Take some real classes.

Take a business, engineering, natural science, and liberal art class. Throw in a foreign language class if you want. That's at least 12 credits.

Pretty sure that is over 20 credit hours... I have already taken an engineering class and I failed that. (I don't really care to retake it) I don't really want to be an engineer anyway. It's just math problems all day.

business: 3
engineering: 3 or 4, depending on lab
science: 3 or 4, depending on lab
liberal: 3
swap one of those for a foreign language: 3

If you don't like math, choose something else: pyschologoy, art, music, literature, language, film, criminal justice, anything.

Business is usually five.
All engineering classes are five.
Sciences are mostly five.
Liberals are mostly five...
All foreign languages I have seen are five.

It's different at my college.

Not a fan of psychology, art, music, literature, language, film, criminal justice or much of anything.

Computers is about the only thing I have interest in.

Yes. I do have many things that are far more enjoyable than retaking an engineering class which is full of pain.
