Question for atheists

This is not a parody thread. It is a legitimate question posed by me, inspired by that other thread. This is absolutely serious, not a joke.

Let's say that Jesus comes back to our Earth tomorrow, and that there is zero doubt that it is really the Son of God. What would atheists say about this event? Would they accept there is a God, or would they come up with weird quantum fluctuation explanations for such an event?

well if god does exist then i think he is a cruel egomaniac but i'd have no other choice than to worship him so i wouldn't have to spend eternity in hell.

If there is truly zero doubt, then God has proven his existence in a concrete undeniable manner, and therefore I would accept there to be a God.

What if he doesnt come down to earth tomorrow, does that make you feel stupid?

This of course requires that it has actually been proven, and it doesn't mean that said god would merit my worship.

In this hypothetical situation, the response from me would be 'I was wrong'

This does, of course, hinge on the whole zero doubt lynchpin of your proposed situation. It will take more than mere chicanery and smoke & mirrors to make me believe in Jesus.

But the ones you've encountered are probably the more vocal ones, correct? Just as the disrespectful Christians/other religious types are probably the moral vocal ones here as well.

Your question is loaded, if there is no doubt that it is the son of god then you cannot possibly deny it. It would be like denying the existence of dinosaurs despite their bones existing. Or denying that the holocaust ever happened. Which is to say that of course people would deny it was true. I think more interesting than the atheist response would be the general religious response.

Confirmation bias, my friend. You see what you want to see.

This is an internet forum and EVERYONE is more of a jackass than they are in real life.

I wonder how Muslims, Jews, or other religions would react.

That's the one thing that really keeps me from embracing orgainized religion. Every one of them KNOWS that they are right.

Simple to answer this - ask any Jewish person. (they didn't believe it the first time around, why would they believe the 2nd time?)

How are you going to tell the difference between this Jesus and all the people who have claimed to beforehand? What are you implying is the incontrovertible proof?

What if Jesus came back and said there wasn't a "God(s)" and that he was just an Alien of long lifespan?

If proof were offerred, then anyone denying it would be stupid.

bs. if they were respectful and loving they wouldn't be trying to foist their beliefs on others

No. Why would it? Jesus will come some day, but nobody knows when...
