"intelligent, respectful atheists"

i'm trying to fathom this. some are intelligent, most i've encountered here aren't respectful.

That's a ridiculous statement, and you know it.
proving my point are you?

Which part of my statement was unintelligent or disrespectful?

Look for fights much?
keep going. . .

Haha what is this, middle school? You wanna pull on my pony tail? Do you like me? Circle Yes or No.
youre both wasting your time. shes trolling on this one, because she clearly hasnt got anything else worth saying

and youre falling for it. just give up.
thanks for joining in the fray, and you think you're any better?

actually, he was proving what i had said. i was just allowing him to further prove it.

He wasnt proving any of your points. You would see it if you took those holy glasses off.
holy glasses? here comes the disrespect i was speaking of. you guys are making it too easy.

I for one would welcome our new God overlord.

The first thing I would do to appease him is drop the h's from all of my words.

Let's say that Jesus comes back to our Earth tomorrow, and that there is zero doubt that it is really the Son of God. What would atheists say about this event? Would they accept there is a God, or would they come up with weird quantum fluctuation explanations for such an event?

Of course we'd accept it. Our belief, or lack thereof, is based entirely on observation of evidence. Most of us would love to believe in a protector and a blissful afterlife. It's the complete lack of evidence supporting any of those fairy tales that's turned us off. Show me any credible proof of the great cosmic muffin and I'll be the first one to convert. Until then I'll keep laughing at those who believe in vapor.

OP to answer your question, being an agnostic I would say I would go "okay I was wrong" and figure out if I wanted to worship "God" or not. He kind of scares me, and isn't as benevolent as he claims.

I respect Christians as long as they respect me and don't try to convert me or bait me into an argument that will go nowhere.

Guess where what you have been saying falls. Being disrespectful to others and expecting them to be anything but disrespectful back is silly.

I would have to talk to him in person to find out just what the deal is. Just because there exists a real god and son of god, doesnt mean for a second that anything written in any book is the truth. after talking to and seeing him for myself I would then decide whether I wanted to do what he wants.

Aye, if Jesus wanted us to use that letter, his name would be "Heyzoose." I don't care what those Spaniard Corsairs say, that not be his handle, and they not be worthy to swab the head.

you have to be more specific about the zero doubt. I am sure David Blaine can turn water into wine and then walk on it... but it doesn't make him jesus.

Amazingly the non-atheist is the one trolling the atheist call out thread. Must be an act of god.

I dont see what religion has to do with respect. respect should be earned. if you give it away to people who havent earned it, then respect becomes meaningless.

then its like throwing a hotdog down a hallway.

wait...

what?

How can an intelligent atheist NOT accept this? If there is zero doubt (meaning there is legit proof) then only a fool would not believe.

Well, I'm not technically an atheist, but if he came here and offered undeniable proof, I would accept it. Since he didn't offer undeniable proof the first time he was supposedly here, I'm not holding my breath though.

If that happened, yes I would believe. However that's hypothetical since I'm not sure how one could prove that the person really is the son of THE God.

It is quite difficult to respect "I turn my brain off from time to time" stupidity. Give it a shot.

Most atheists are either rebelling kids or are angrily exorcising themselves of religious indoctrination.

I just find it kind of amusing that pragmatism and logic in terms of spiritual belief makes someone abnormal.

I'd only accept him if he could make Crysis playable at 19*12 @ Very High in DX10 with a minimum FPS of 60.

Anything less and there is no God.
