Can you see Ahmad Bradshaw replacing Jacobs as the feature back next season? I certainly can. Bradshaw reminds me very much of Tiki, only faster, tougher and with less of an overblown ego. His moves are very similiar to Tiki's. He never goes down on first contact, he always has a second push. Jacobs is one of a kind, but he's not busting the big runs. He's a great short yardage guy, no doubt, the guy can push the pile.

I don't think so - Jacobs has been looking less than great recently but I think defenses are keying on him plus obviously they're all playoff teams.
If Jacobs continues to struggle the first few weeks then maybe, otherwise I think out of camp Jacobs will be #1 on the chart.

I'm just worried about how he's going to take getting beat up on week in and week out getting 20+ carries a game.

Well, I don't keep up on the Giants, but if what you say is true, then yeah I could see it. Then again, it might be smarter to use Jacob to bruise the defense up for most of the game and then drop the other one in to change pace.

What I'll be curious about is the Cowboys, I don't see how Marion Barber (did I spell it correctly?) isn't their main back. Of course I don't really keep up on the Cowboys much either, so maybe I'm missing something.

I think if Jacobs stops trying to pulverize every defender and maybe avoid some contact he could gain more yards. He's kind of one-dimensional now. If he matures some and runs a little "smarter" he could be pretty special. Right now, though, I actually prefer to have Bradshaw in the game. He's got some good moves.

Over Time yes. While Jacobs is a beast and a Pro Bowl caliber player, Bradshaw can drive the pile just as well and is more useful in passing plays. I can see them teaming up to split the load successfully for many years to come.

A more interesting question is what happens to the forgot back- Derrick Ward (Smack yourself if you though Reuben Droughns ). The Giants have the most depth at Tailback in the league. Quote me on it.

Bradshaw is a tough runner, but he can't move a pile like Jacobs can. Not very many people can. Bradshaw's strength is avoiding the pile.

I like Jacobs, physical style and I also like Bradshaw's slasher style too. Ward was a good compromise of both styles. I am really torn between the three. I would like to see the Giants go with a split backs formation once in a while with 2 RBs instead of an RB and FB. All three have really good potential.

With Jacobs style of running he is going to breakdown, think Earl Campbell.

They need to have a 1-2 or a 1-2-3 punch at RB.

Actually I think the feature back should be more of a slasher type (think OJ LOL).

Then Jacobs should be the short yardage, change of pace, inside the 5 back.

that was not rbbc... thats a 1-2 punch... which most teams now have.

rbbc is when you have 4 backs and all of them suck and you cant decide which to play...
like SF & miam.

Ive been saying all season long Jacobs needs to be the 3rd down, short yardage, 4th quarter type back. Ive been high on Bradshaw since being drafted and am very happy hes getting spotlight time.

Ward is a RFA after this season. I would imagine hell be picked up.

I actually believe Ward is unrestricted, not restricted.

Either way, with the cap room the Giants have, I'd expect him to be back. This would give the Giants a "triple headed monster" of sorts, which is something that I'd love to see. This would allow them to keep three backs fresh through the course of the game, and have multiple serviceable backups. Reuben Droughns can just fade off into oblivion for all I care.

That being said... don't write of Jacobs yet. He hasn't been playing that great lately, as it seems like he spends too much time examining the situation before hitting the hole like he used to do. When he was running to his potential over the middle-late part of the season, he was averaging over 5.0 YPC.

EDIT: I'd love to see Bradshaw as a Dave Megget type next year. This would give him another year to mature behind Ward and Jacobs, and we can re-evaluate at this time next year.

Yea i believe youre right, he was a RFA last year it looks like and we signed him for a year again. He should be a UFA this year.

I do love watching Bradshaw play. He was such a steal in the 7th round. Thank god he stole those Playstations!

As a matter of fact, the entire draft was great. Think about all the contributors that came out of the draft this year.

Ross
Smith
Bradshaw
Johnson
DeOssie (ST)
Boss

Then, don't forget about the great waiver wire acquisition that Reese made...Domenik Hixon.

How the heck did the Giants squirrel away so many good running backs? Is their o-line that good at run blocking?

I don't see Bradshaw replacing him next year. They complement each other very well, and Bradshaw is still fairly green and hasn't played all that much since he was injured and seems to play only about half of the game.

After that? If Bradshaw maintains his consistency, he could easily be #1 on the roster. Since Jacobs is really good, he could be a quality trade opportunity to pick up someone to shore up their pass defense or even their run defense (CB, FS/SS, LB, or even a defensive lineman if Strahan packs it up).

The Giants have a wealth of running talent.

Everyone has forgotten about Derrick Ward, he did a pretty good job while Jacobs was out earlier in the season.

From what I hear, Bradshaw's biggest weakness is providing pass protection. As he gains experience I'm sure he'll get more playing time but I don't think he'll be ready to be the starter next year. Think the Giants can do what they're doing this season and still have a good running game.
