Question for LCD monitor users

I just got a LCD monitor and wanted to know these questions.
if not in use should I turn the monitors power off?
or can I leave it on and let the screen saver do it's thing?

granted, i don't have an LCD, but why wouldn't you turn it off if you know you're going to be away for awhile?

Screen savers don't work with LCD monitors, you'd better just turn it off.

Screen savers don't work with LCD monitors, you'd better just turn it off.

Well lcds don't suffer from burn in, but crt's don't for the most part any more either so you could argue the screen saver is mostly for personal amusement now.

The backlight in the lcds often have a mtbf lower than that of the lcd, so it would give out quicker probably. A quick search of google showed most backlights seemed to be rated for 30000 hours though so you make the call..

Usually it's the back light that dies first from what I hear.

I just have mine go into standby mode after 5min, I don't even use a screen saver.
