How many actually know what the speed limit is on roads where no limit is posted?

Speed limits in PA are pretty low. Too many curvy and hilly highways

i hardly ever worry about it in PA. only the state troopers have radar guns, and out on country roads you never see them. look out for the double white lines crossing the road and you're fine.

55 for sure except in some urban areas -- but most of those places are DEFINATLY going to have it signed

Let's see, I've been living in PA all of my life so here are the general rules:

-Most small highways and such are 55mph
-Most other roads, like the back roads connecting towns, are usually 45mph
-All roads near residential areas are 35mph
-All roads inside of neighborhoods and similar areas are 25mph

If the speed limit isn't posted, you can guess pretty safely by what type of road it is.

There's a ~3mi stretch of 73 from 363 to North Wales Road that has one sign posted (55mph) one way and none the other way. Most tards think it's 40-45. So annoying.

I thought it was 25 in any residential area, 35 on urban roads, and 45 anywhere else.

You are correct, it's pretty much always 25 in residential zones, but the urban and "anywhere else" can be interchanged... I've seen speed limits go from 45 to 35 out of nowhere up in flat stretches of Washington Crossing.

I understand if its a windy back road or something but where i live and even the road im on isnt marked and they heavily traveled roads and people fart around on em. For those familiar with 183 thats another one thats bad. Its even posted 55 people drive 45. Now granted that road goes from 45-55 depending on where you are but its clearly posted. Best part is when we get to the 45 zone people speed up.

I don't know about PA, but in NJ it's 25 in residential areas, 50 elsewhere.

Slower than the maniac that just passed you.
Faster than the idiot in front of you.

"As fast as you can" is the speed limit on all non-interstate highways in PA. Just look out for those silly VASCAR lines.

35 if the road is "residential" (good indicator = no line down the middle), 55 all others if not marked. Roads must be marked ever 1/2 mile and within 1/2 mile of intersections or else the limit reverts to 55. I got out of a ticket this way - cop wrote it for 58 in a 40, road hadn't been marked for a mile previous to the spot, therefore the speed limit was 55 and the ticket was wrong.

BONUS!

How did I miss that one when I read the PA traffic code?

Why didn't the judge adjust it to 58 in a 55?

Good question. It was either because of the whole "ticket is wrong, therefore invalid" thing, or because the local judges don't like state troopers, or because I played on the judge's son's baseball team. Probably a combination of all of the above.
