My box was more than $1300. The GPU alone over here was $900. I don't consider $200 GPUs. If it isn't top end for $700+ I won't buy it. There has never been a "budget" gaming PC. Budget is console. They run at medium ish, why bother fiddling around with crappy parts to get what you'd get out of the box on a console?

And its about time specs went through the roof. If you have a quad let it be fully utilised.

A $200 GPU can play at high and ultra settings.

99.9% of people don't want or care about a $900 GPU. I know I sure don't.

How many PC exclusives are there compared to console exclusives?

If the game is not an exclusive, how much time do you think the developer put into making the PC port look its best? i.e., I'm bringing back up the fact that the PC is second fiddle in developers minds.

Yes, you can point to a few PC exclusives and a few more where devs who take their PC ports seriously.

Essentially, you're paying $300 for your graphics card to run higher resolution at better framerates and sometimes getting better textures or aliasing.

I'm a PC gamer because I've always been a PC gamer, and cheap Steam sales keep me a slave to the system. I think if it was as convenient to purchase 278 games for my Xbox/Playstation at the average cost of $12.51/game, I might be swayed to put more time on a console.

I'd be interested in comparing the number of exclusive titles on a console with the number of PC exclusive sub-genres.

I've played modded Skyrim on my 70". He knows not what he speaks of. Beginning to think he's challenged.

I haven't yet on my 70" I really need to. But I keep holding off because "new gpu maybe I get even more mods? Maybe I wait to 4k?"

And first let me say that I myself am a PC gamer...

But do you start asking yourself "Am I crazy for wanting/needing to buy a new $350 GPU just so that I can play the newest game when the (game) looks and plays pretty darn good on a console that costs about the same as my video card alone?"
No, because I get to see those games, in their native habitats.

Do you ever begin to question your ROI?
Always. This is optional spending, with no material returns.

I mean when you look at games like Borderlands you realize that TOP END graphics are NOT a requirement for a game to be fun. Would Dragon Age: Inquisition be any LESS fun with Borderland style graphics...?
No. But, the games are often different. Just the aimbot does a good bit of that. Take off that and mouse accel, and you have an FPS the way it should be. Then, there are modded games that can't be played on the consoles, even if the base game is available.

Nintendo makes the only consoles I've wanted, the last several years. Consoles are fine, but not the same thing. Costs are close enough, amortized, that it's bogus, when looking at the XB1/PS4. Also, the console exclusives have been few and far between, these days, as opposed to say the PS2, that had many good exclusives.

Not at 60FPS, and consoles dip well below 30FPS frequently (see Eurogamer) depending on the game. Meh. I'd prefer to play something that isn't maximum ugly @ 25FPS (just about).

PC gaming has become pretty crappy in the recent years, I snagged good deals on all my previous hardware since they 8800 GTS and Core 2 Duo E6420, been quite lucky you could save.

I do enjoy the versatility of PCs and the multi-tasking abilities which I mostly why I play on it. Plus I've become kind of blind and it's hard for me to play on a TV.

I don't plan on upgrading anymore due to the crap coming out these days. Nor am I buying any games until a dev shows some dignity.

8800 GTS -> 8800GT -> 9800GX2 (horrid card) -> GTX 260 (the good one?) -> GTX 480(made my room too hot) -> GTX 570 -> GTX 580 -> GTX 670 -> GTX 780 -> GTX 780 Classified.
Core 2 Duo E6420(epic overclocker) -> i5 750 -> i7 920(Epic chip) -> 3930k.

I havn't spent more than $200 combined in getting all these cards, the 8800 GTS was my most expensive purchase at ~$350 and from there selling, getting parts from friends, and deals etc etc
Same applies to processor, it was fun while I was in school but don't feel like doing it these days, and I'm working full time. Crysis wars (MP) was the last game that struck my fancy.

Hmm actually I think I've just replaced my computer with my car beucase that's where most of my time goes....

Agreed $200 graphics cards are normally ideal. Or even $300. Anything else your paying double as much for maybe 10% performance that you could extract in other ways and save that money for other things.

That's why game at my tv which limit my res at 1080p, and I'm not interested in 4k tv now. At 1080p a $250 card will last a while.

One PC title the console gamers never had the chance to try, League of Legends.
Personally, I spent more than two years playing it and nothing else, just LoL every morning & evening, whenever I had a free time, this game was a damn addiction.

On console everybody is playing on the same exact specs, 99% are using the default original controllers, so it's an even playing field where the greater skilled players win and not those with beast rigs who can crank up FOV and run at 144hz, have macros programmed that help them do stuff faster etc etc...

Very interesting theory.

for me its just that all the things i like about consoles doesn't exist anymore

now i have to install games, they are almost 50gb big, require patches to work right, has almost as many issues as the pc versions, its just a joke

consoles used to be you pop in a disc and can play, perfect for the working man
Overall, installing console games is a move in the right direction. CD load times are ridiculous. My major gripe is that consoles don't use regular hard drives. They use those crappy laptop hard drives that are slower and more expensive.

you act like a little girl in high school or something

reply with some substance, dont just be a troll

Maybe stop saying painfully stupid things then?

Your Skyrim point up there is just laughably dense. The game "looks better" on a TV, because it's easier to hide its unfixable console flaws?

And you honestly wonder why your posts are constantly mocked?

Where does one even begin...

How about the fact that, for free, and with minimal hassle, there is literally many times the content available, much of that free content devoted to making the game look, function, and play far, far better than on any console does or will. Yes, even fix those "low resolution shadows" and actually make them look sharp, rather than just "sitting farther away and hoping your TV hide them"

And you know what? You can hook your PC up to a "55 inch plasma" too? So again, knuckleheaded argument..

hehe

Consoles now are just weak PC's that use a crappy input device.

Oh and your point earlier about better hardware winning out over lesser is way off base. Skill will always win the day as long as the lesser machine can run the game smoothly. Higher graphics settings can be a horrible hindrance, I keep a lot detail settings turned down on a fairly rocking machine just so I can see better.

What are you talking about?

All those games did phenomenally well on Xbox 360, and you most certainly get the full experience the developer ever intended with those games. In fact, and I know I will get flamed for this, IMO in some ways Skyrim looks best on the 360, sitting on a couch with a 55" plasma. It hides the flaws, such as the low resolution shadows, while letting the beauty of the game world come through.

skyrims shadows and LOD look awful at 1080p

the game was totally designed for 360

Now I see where the "Posting in a futurefields thread" meme came from.

I've seen enough of your threads now to realize you barely can grasp how to use a PC. Or you're trolling.
