(I also second staying with Disney over Universal even though I am boycotting DCA for personal reasons.)

Go north to Magic Mountain and have real fun.

Definitely recommend this if you like coasters. If it's a weekend you'll probably need to spring for a Gold Flash Pass unless you want to stand in line for 2+ hours per ride.

Its been many years since I last went, but the last 2 times I went I did purchase passes. I don't think they had the flash pass etc, but you could buy tickets to the fronts of lines, its well worth it IMHO.

I must admit - World of Color is new - and have not been to DCA since the remodel.


Another tip - I would suggest you read the forum for Disneyland related info as there are a lot of pros on this board that have mastered the art of Disneyland.

Has the gang violence at Magic Mountain been cleaned up? Epic coasters but a 2hr drive North from Disneyland.

I'm taking my family to Disneyland this weekend and we're trying to decide if on the second day we should go to California Adventure next to Disneyland or if we should go to Universal Studios. It looks like we'd enjoy Universal more but it also looks like we'd have to drive straight through the middle of LA to get there. If someone would let me know what sort of traffic we should expect trying to make that trip late morning Saturday I would be grateful.
