Question for those with dual p3s....is it faster?

By faster I mean is it more responsive. Right now I have a Tbird 900@1000. I don't know how to do one thing at once. For me I always have a few windows open. Right now I'm just typing in this message and that's it and I've got 5 windows open. What I want to know is do dual procs make just everyday use a little zippier? I don't mind gaming performance being the same or even a little slower.

Only with an operating system that can utilize both processors. Right now that means *NIX or Windows 2000 (or Windows NT). Windows 2000 will tend to split tasks between the processor automagically, without the application programs being designed to use multiprocessing. Some apps, like Photoshop, however, will make good use of a second processors.

As to whether it will make a noticable difference to you, that depends completely on what you're doing with your PC. If you just have a dozen browser windows, plus Word and Excel open at the same time, there probably won't be much difference because all those apps are really just sitting there waiting for input. On the other hand, if you're doing 3d graphics rendering, program compiling, or some other CPU intensive tasks, there will be an improvement, though it won't be anything like twice as fast.
