Question on changing out A7V for a KT7

I am thinking of swapping my A7V out for a KT7 and was wondering if I can just swap boards and boot, or do I have to load windows again and all that stuff. I never just swapped motherboards before and was hoping I could just swap it out and it would work normally.

good luck.... it MIGHT work since they run the sme chipset, but i would bet you'll be seeing alot of wierd errors. better off formatting. Why ditch the A7V? I have used both the asus and abit socket A boards and the A7V is my favorite.

I had MSI bxmaster and now using abit kt7 without install. No problems what so ever.

no doubt? went from bx to kt133 without reinstallation? Clap clap clap. I've tried to change boards without reinstall and it bit me in the ass, but maybe that was an isolated incident....

I like the A7V but I have some weird problems that are hardware related with it. Plus I always like Abit. I am gonna then sell the A7V on e-bay.

Ive gone from an ASUS p3v4x to a BH6 and back without rebuilding and had no problems. I am using WIN98SE which is more forgiving. I think you should be ok being that both your boards use the same chipset.

it wasn't if you even stay with the same chipset, but go a different brand, you will get it redetecting all of the bridges and controllers etc. and it can fail or work...KT7 for me seems faster, and it was the last bottleneck. Had my tbird 800 running at 900 on the A7V, but now I can't change the multiplier, so I am doing 840 (105.8.0) and I seem to be faster than with the A7V. It was that blasted on board promise controller that had me sharing IRQ's
