Good point. PLUS, i neglected the fact that, while the P4 will be "available", because of its bloated die size (just like all new cores when they are introduced by intel), it will be a low volume chip (kinda like the 1ghz P3), so people will have a tough time finding it outside of prebuilt systems (kinda like the 1ghz P3), and it will likely be rather expensive, because of its die size, and all the other restrticions (new motherboard type - entirely new bus, exotic EMI shielding, massive heatsinks), will make it kinda expensive (kinda like the 1ghz P3....). The mustang on the other hand (rather, the derivates of the "mustang core", I fully expect to be out in something close to volume at the time that it is actually announced. Its been AMD's style to do that lately
So ViRGE - I think you're right. And considering that you should be able to use a mustang derivative chip in socket A right away (hey, it rhymes!), it might even be the case that, if there are enough tweaks within the mustang core, that the mustang would get a newly developed core for the client before the P4. Only time will tell
