Question on the most recent TDK cd burners

I debating on getting the TDK VeloCd 52/24/48 or the TDK VeloCd 48/16/48. I noticed the the 52/24/48 has some new technology called Constant Angular Velocity (CAV) burning. What is CAV? Is it really a benefit? The 52 burner is one sale at Best Buy for 89.99 with a $20 rebat making it about $70. The 48 is one sale at Frys for 79.99 with a $40 rebate which makes it about $40. Is the 52x and CAV really worth $30 more? Thanks in advance for your opinions!!!

I believe CAV has something to do with keeping a steady speed form the inside tracks to the outside tracks. Because at a set RPM the outside tracks go by the laser faster than the inner tracks. I think that CAV maintains a set speed for the whole disc.

Will you really notice a speed diference from 48x to 52x with CAV? My guess would be no. At 48x you'd theoretically burn 700MB in 1.62 minutes, at 52x it'd be about 1.08 min. If it were me I'd save the $30 unless the improvement in RW speeds is something you want.

I actually bought both tdk cd burners yesterday and then after some research, found out that Lite-on makes TDK. I returned both of them today and ordered a Lite-on 52x online for a lot cheaper.
