Okay I have a question. Upon reading reviews for the abit kt7a, I learned that abit has a new safety feature that will make the computer unable to boot if you do not have a fan plug into the CPU1 3 pin header, or if you do, and the fan is not working, registering 0 RPM, the computer will not boot. Well I have also read that some of the fans today will burn up a 3 pin header, so they include 3 to 4 pin molex adapters. If this is the case then how can this problem be solved. I am trying to make a quiet pc so my fan will likely not produce enough power to burn the header, but what about others that will. LMK what you guys think.

The fan will only burn up the header if it is a BIG fan. The average CPU fan doesent come close to being a problem. I have 2 80mm. fans that draw 2 watts each plus the CPU fan plugged into my motherboard and thats not a problem. However, if you are trying to plug a really high power fan(over 5 watts) then yes, it is possible to damage the motherboard.

If you want to cheat it, just power your CPU fan with the standard 4 pin power connector and hook up whatever 3 wire fan you want to the CPU header - just attach it somewhere else where it can do a little bit of good while it keeps the sensors happy!

I have heard that the new revisions of the BIOS are going to support disabling this safety check. If this is true then you have no problems what so ever.
