Hello! First off, this is currently where I am at:
21" Samsung 215TW Wide-screen LCD (fantastic picture, wow)
Two 80GB Hitachi Deskstar 7K250 SATA HDs
Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic
DVD+/-RW burner from LG
DFI LAN PARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ overclocked (2.2Ghz/cor to 2.6Ghz/core)
Two 512Mb sticks of OCZ Platinum Rev 2 DDR400 memory
eVGA GeForce 6800 GS overclocked as well
That is basically what is in my system and I've been using an OCZ PowerStream 420W PSU and this computer has been absolutely rock solid. Have never, ever had a problem with stability. However, I had decided that maybe I would go for an ATI Radeon X1950 XTX sometime around December perhaps (partially for the HDCP support and partially because some of the newer games don't run so great at 1680x1050 on the video card). Does anyone know if I would need a small boost in power at all? I don't mean your 'rule of thumb' when building a system (some say to me 'I just simply put a big PSU in there as a rule' but that doesn't help me), if possible. Anyone know how much additional power that will add? I've used the various power calculators online, but lost those web addresses. My guess is that I should be fine, but if I need a new one I will upgrade that power supply in between here. We are going to upgrade another PC here anyways, so it wouldn't be an inconvenience....I could just put this PSU in that computer instead.
