Question regarding Nvidia GTX 660

I am planning to get a Gigabyte GTX 660 with an i3 3220 and I read that an i3 3220 will not bottleneck a GTX 660 which means the GTX 660 can perform to its full potential with the i3 3220 but some people still say that you will get lower FPS when compared to an i5. How much of a difference will it be?

I am going the buy the following rig next week mainly for playing Crysis 3:

Intel Core i3 3220
Gigabyte GTX 660
Giagabyte B75M-D3H motherboard
Corsair CXV2 430 watts psu
Corsair vengeance 4GB 1600MHz ram
Dell IN2030M 20 inch led monitor with 1600x900 maximum resolution
Seagate or WD 500GB 7200RPM 6 GBPS HDD

Can I play Crysis 3 on High at 1600x900 resolution with 30+ fps with the above config?

Why do you want buy now. crysis 3 is releasing in feb. you might want to go for atleast a HD 7950 boost or GTX 670 for crysis 3 at high settings. its looking to be a GPU killer like the original crysis.

At that low res (1600x900) the 660 would probably be a logical choice since it will be paired with the i3 3220. Not sure how it will handle Crysis 3 though. Probably best to wait for the game to come out and see hardware performance tests done with it to make a better choice.

Wait for the game release or a demo. We can't possibly guess on the hardware requirements for high yet. If its anything like Crysis it will require a machine that doesn't exist yet to run high.

i have seen some videos on youtube with the alpha multiplayer gameplay and with a gtx 660 and hd 7850 they are able to get 30-50 average fps on high settings

GTX660 should be alright as long as there is no AA involved.

You will probably want an unlocked processor (i5-2500K, i7-2600K, i7-2700K, i5-3570K, or i7-3770K) if you are going to use this to play Crysis 3. All of them are quad cores and they allow you to overclock the processors.

Probably not, at least not to a noticeable extent.

I think you will be fine with Crysis 3 with a 3220 and 660 paired at that res. If you are budget restricted, then what other choices do you have? If you are not budget restricted, then you should probably boost the CPU to an i5, but at that res I would still think a 660 is ok, although a 7950 or something similar is probably warranted to allow you to turn up more details. Crysis 3 may bottleneck your CPU, but that means you can just crank up the settings for the GPU.

yes I am on a very tight budget and after researching for days I came up with this config and i am willing to turn some settings down to get smooth gameplay

If you want a closer examination of your build, even if you are buying outside the U.S., I recommend posting in the General Hardware topic area, lots of folks over there willing to give your build a look over based on your budget. Just fill out the sticky at the top of that forum and you should get some good responses. I think your build looks pretty good, but without more info no one can tell if your price/performance looks good or not.
